Gameplay is opaque at best and gibberish at worst. Will not go near again.
Don't worry, it took me a bunch of tries and a game over too.
I also expected the drawing to look like the (drawing of a) flower on my shelf.
It's okay. I learned my lesson. Will not go near again.
more sketches and detailed investigations for players who want an easier time identifying plants and a smooth playthrough, perhaps?
Yeah, I hope the changes don't make it *too* easy - putting clues together to identify a plant is the fun part! The key here was to read the description carefully and realize what mattered was the appearance of the leaves and not the color of the flower. I too expected a yellow flower at first, but when there weren't any options that fit I had to look a little harder and eventually figured it out.
Exactly. I loved having to look closer and find things out by myself, it made the game very enjoyable to me. I would find it very sad if the game would be made easy enough for people who think "lemon? I will try every yellow plant I find until I game over" to succeed. I get wanting to appeal to a large group of people, but I really got a more "Think for yourself"-vibe from the game that I loved.
It does say at the beginning of the "manual" that the drawings aren't always accurate and it's best to trust the written word. Perhaps it's been added since, in reaction to your struggles?
