Lemon Dandy
According to one comment elsewhere, I "suck at reading", but I cannot figure out how to deliver the Lemon Dandy. The hint says "I have it somewhere here" but I tried all the yellow plants and this led to GAME OVER.

Suggestions?

I found it by randomly putting plants into the slot. Tell me how I was supposed to divine that this blue plant is Lemon Dandy?

This game has a LOT of potential. I love the approach, I love the art, I love the music.

Gameplay is opaque at best and gibberish at worst. Will not go near again.

Reading the description, it's because the curled leaves resemble a peeled lemon rind.

Don't worry, it took me a bunch of tries and a game over too.

Silly me, I was expecting the "Lemon Dandy" flower to be .. I dunno.. yellow.

I also expected the drawing to look like the (drawing of a) flower on my shelf.

It's okay. I learned my lesson. Will not go near again.

Yep, if the pictures looked exactly the same and they told you which colour it was it would be so much easier. BTW you can get a Tetris mod where all the blocks are the straights ones.

The curled leaves are the major clue. The image here is at best only sort of helpful. Frequently the drawings only cover the medically useful part of the plant. Such as the Mary's Breath that is also on the image above.

Sorry to hear you struggled with the Lemon Dandy, but thanks for the feedback! We have decided to make the sketch in the book more representative of the plant for that one - the last thing we want is people getting stuck on only the second plant.

Maybe there could be difficulty modes for the game, LOL
more sketches and detailed investigations for players who want an easier time identifying plants and a smooth playthrough, perhaps?

Yeah, I hope the changes don't make it *too* easy - putting clues together to identify a plant is the fun part! The key here was to read the description carefully and realize what mattered was the appearance of the leaves and not the color of the flower. I too expected a yellow flower at first, but when there weren't any options that fit I had to look a little harder and eventually figured it out.

Exactly. I loved having to look closer and find things out by myself, it made the game very enjoyable to me. I would find it very sad if the game would be made easy enough for people who think "lemon? I will try every yellow plant I find until I game over" to succeed. I get wanting to appeal to a large group of people, but I really got a more "Think for yourself"-vibe from the game that I loved.

Please don't make it easier. Half the fun is piecing together the clues. Just because one gamer couldn't think outside the box doesn't mean we are all that rigid. :spiffo:

Agreed! We certainly don't want to go too far and make it too easy, but we do want to make sure it's not too overwhelming in the early stages of the game where players are still learning how everything works. I think we've mostly got there with that though because the feedback on the updated demo has been an improvement. And don't worry - there's plenty to get stuck into in the full game!

It does say at the beginning of the "manual" that the drawings aren't always accurate and it's best to trust the written word. Perhaps it's been added since, in reaction to your struggles?
I had a plant (can’t remember which one now) that I “dreaded out” on at LEAST 6 times before I found the right one. But that is exactly WHY I love the game. Instead of getting frustrated, like I do with most puzzle games, this just makes me love the game more! Great work devs!
