Agent 64: Spies Never Die

Agent 64: Spies Never Die

What are the Cyphers for?
i'm talking about the Cyphers the player gets when they beat levels. are they just collectibles? or will having certain numbers of them give certain rewards, like new modifiers?

ii really dislike the Cyphers system.

you need them to unlock levels, you get one for finishing each level and on each difficulty. So you HAVE to replay levels on harder difficulty's if you want to progress the story and unlock more levels.

You can't do a whole game run on Easy for example,

Like to unlock the 4th level act 2 i now have to go back and finish past levels on the next difficulty setting, which i think is not right. You should be able to do a whole run on easy then if you want to do other difficulty's, it feels like it's gatekeeping you out of progressing forward

The Cyphers should just be an achievement or something not something that stops you from playing the next level.
Yeah, cyphers should be rewards for 100%. Gatekeeping players who just want to finish campaign and forcing them to replaying same missions just to progress further feels like a cheap and unfun way to artificially bloat the game time. I would rather have a full playthrough on one selected difficulty level than having to replay levels just to progress further
I am playing on hard, and also thought, why should I replay missions on Normal and Easy just to get the full amount of cyphers? Wonder if the cyphers I earn while playing on hard, are enough to unlock everything.
Modern carrot chasing in Goldeneye? Booo

Ah darn, even if Goldeneye gets more interesting in Secret Agent it's a shame we can't just try the lowest difficulty before going for the higher ones.

Thanks for the explanation, this is a terrible system.
I have a question about replayability (excluding online mode).

Aside from the three difficulty levels for missions, are all the other activities based on a time limit?

yea it feels away to make the game longer, which it doesn't need to be that way at all as the game is so good. The dev doesn't need to add these ways in to make it longer.

I want to fully play the game on easy then i'll do a run on mid and again on hard. Then i'll go back and find the secrets. Right now its, play first 3 missions, then go back to the first and play on a harder setting, then do 4th level, then go back to past levels to get Cyphers to unlock the next level, and repeat.

Doing it this way actually puts me off because im 'forced' into doing something i don't want to do in a matter of speaking. I can find ways to make games longer myself, i don't need a system put into it where im forced to go back to past levels and forced to do harder settings just to move on to the next level.

I really really hope this system gets removed, turn it into a medal system which gets me to unlock some challenges or something, or some special cheat options unlock
The game is 14-ish missions long so it's shorter than even Perfect Dark yet I still wouldn't mind if Agent mode was still feasible in one go...
