Agent 64: Spies Never Die

How to unlock permanent crossair. I saw it one time but forget the challenge.

I want to say it was getting Par Time on level 2 or 3.
seriously? You have to unlock something as basic as the crosshair? :(
Act 2 or Challenge 2?

I really don't like that this isn't a default setting.
It's entirely consistent with the game it's emulating. N64 Goldeneye only had a crosshair if you were actively aiming (which is also the default behavior here). The rest of the time you were expected to let auto-aim handle things (which it's more than capable of).

Except this game is as much a homage (not "emulating") to the superior Perfect Dark, which has a crosshair by default.

There is no reason we can't have a crosshair with autoaim disabled (which was also the best way to play PD).

Auto aim was for people that never played FPS, you are actually far better with it off and aiming for headshots from the hip than stopping to use fine aim or relying on auto aim.

I get why some people want to play how they played Goldeneye. But even the devs of that realised having a crosshair was better when they released the follow up (and again easily superior game) Perfect Dark. So both ways to play should be an option.

I'm all for having crosshair on means you have to have auto aim off (which like I said, is actually the better way to play anyway).

Locking crosshair to a mode that doesn't allow progress sucks. But you can easily just use an app like Hudsight to bypass this issue anyway. That's what I did and I am having an absolute blast with the game.

Good news is it's pretty easy to unlock, Bad news is you can't progress while using it. See above.
Honestly? That's all fair and I don't really have any argument with it. I still like the auto-aim mode because I think GoldenEye was always a little more Doom than anything that came after it - there are moments of stealth and precision, but by and large you're meant to be flying through it taking guys out by the seat of your pants, and auto-aim fits that vibe IMO.

But/and, I can see why people would want the option to not do that, and I'm glad there are options to fix it client-side for folks who prefer it.

I am giving you an award for being a rare person on the internet that is reasonable and respectful of other peoples desires while respectfully expressing your own!

I fully agree, I want it to accommodate the GE style of play for those that want it too!

Flying through by the seat of your pants is a 100% legit way to enjoy these games. I prefer the slow methodical secret agent style. All stealth and perfect headshots. So the Perfect Dark improvements with auto-aim disabled and a crosshair really suite me better.

But at the end of the day I just want all of us GE/PD fans to be happy. And this game makes me very happy. But it could be even better still! :)

Hey thanks for the idea. I completely forgot that my monitor has an option in its setting to put a crosshair on the screen. I did just that and it works perfectly.

As a thank you I sent you an award. Meaningless but I am thankful.

Doesn't seem to work. Completed lvl 2 in under the par time and got the notification for the unlock, but there doesn't seem to be an option to enable it. Yes, I've checked the paradox menu
I have just been using my monitor's built-in crosshair. FTW!

Must be a glitch because it's defo in the Paradox menu for me.

But turning it in locks progress anyway, so just use a cross hair app. I use Hudsight on PC but there are decent free ones. I use one from Decky on the Steam Deck.

You can set a button to enable it too and then map to your controller for when you want to turn it off.

I have it so using fine aim turns off the one I have added so I don't get two at the same time.

No problem. Might be worth looking into a cross hair app too, then you can disable it in menus and when you use fine aim by mapping the button you set to controller buttons. As I mentioned above, I have mine set so it turns off when I use fine aim so I don't have 2 at the same time. And a button to just turn it off in menus. I could share my mapping in Steam if it helps. Although I also have Gyro aiming enabled.
