Shipbuilding R1-20 and crafting
So each ship has their seperate R xp level, and maxes at lvl 20, then stops. At lvl 20 blueprint level u get like a +15 to +18 bonus to each stat when you randomly roll

The tier of ship is the Eastern/Western Build lvl, as you build ships the lvl goes up. So you can build higher tier ships

Understanding level - no idea, still at 0 xp

Blue gems lets you reroll stats for ships. blue gems earned from achievements

Red gems will be cash shop i guess, which speed up builds,

Golden ships - As your shipbuilding level increases you get the golden type of lower lvl ships, for example at R5 of west I get the gold types of t2 ships

Materials - You need to invest in port to get better materials, for example you need to invest 1-2 million for the special (like pine) C or B quality materials to appear.

yeah its a grind of ships, tho better lvl on the blueprint/ship you build they tend to stick to their max , some tiers are sadly garbage like t5 , only built them for 2x exp .

Tho hopefully in future its gonna be a demand to make and sell ships in auction house atm its really not

level is apparently supposed to unlock special cabins according to patch notes.
Some blueprints are sold only at "Black Market" (which is a section of the Item Shop, these doesn't exist in every place, so have to write down or remember which item is sold where) and many times they have unlock requirements (shown if you click on red area in description)

Would it make sense to just entirely skip T5, and then just later one build them for the 2x XP once you don't really need the materials anymore? Feels kind of that way for me.

Of course, you build based on ship stats what you need, and also based on what you can have enough parts and money to pay for (some parts in demo are limited for T6 like 40 a week and need 70 for 1 ship, just an example my numbers could be off, so you have to pay from cash shop, but those are also limited to 2 pack per week), and later tiers will be even worse time gating, including for cash items.
Investing in multiple ports allows to buy more parts, but still there is a point where can't build more this week, have to wait for reset, or build things you don't want just for the sake of advancing access to higher build tiers.

Did you see the 2 week login reward T10 ship? Hopefully will be changed in release, if they start throwing overpowered ships to cash shop like UW online did, this game will sink as fast as they did...

so far using a mix of invest-buy the weekly allowed in where i can its t5 and up where you gotta get grinding for materials, yes it slows down the progress but there is a auction house that when more people playing hopefully will offer those

Also agree the login rewards are like way to high tier ships, it might be due to the demo to make people intrested , also well player built boats with good shipbuilders are more maxed stats

Captured a few ships also earlier today and cost me 500,000 to get to claim it , see what the cost of t5 and up is , but that is also a way to get blueprints/parts as you can just dismantle them tho the chance is slim ,unsure what capture them think its melee fight
Cagan Feb 12, 2023 @ 8:15am
500k to claim too steep, not one ship captured, maybe cause i was ramming everything...
and offered duels in combat with my weak trader and not 1 enemy captain accepted. Luck I guess?
Early on I did about 30 fights (or more) manually, just melee, and still captured just about 2-3 ships. So it's an RNG low chance to capture if you melee all the ships, though the in-game animation always shows every defeated ship as sunk. Had to pay to tow the ship to port, and then could recover & repair. But I wasn't after the ships, just didn't want to destroy them with artillery or ram. Still 99% or more gets destroyed, no matter what.
Also I doubt any of those were good ships, so it's still no way to avoid the regular grind, RNG and adventure of finding where the parts are and get a bit of parts each week. Time gate is real starting with T4.

I am disappointed in skill ups, like if I use cannons day and night and do no trading and level up (or promote) still my trade skills go up with abdullah and a tiny fraction skill up in combat. So captain selection is very important and customization is almost impossible....

Yea Sailing era skill system is so much better, also the graphics.... I do like the trading system in this game better but combat and customization is worse

You can also put ships you own into the collection tab for added buffs.

Unfortunately you will need to complete a set to donate more (e.g. Donate 1 of each Western T1 ships, then you can donate 3 of each, then donate 5 of each).

Also for the golden T2 ships, you can get the golden small hull by dismantling small ships. The blueprint you can use the common one. Not sure if all this will still be easily available in the demo or if they'll change the drop rate and rewards though.
