Auto-walk issue causing constant drifting to the left

Hi, I'm trying to review this game for work. I played the first one many years ago on PlayStation 4 and I really enjoyed it. I'm running into an issue right off the bat when I start the game. As soon as dialogue stops, Riley keeps moving to the left and gets in this weird loop. Moving to the right is impossible even when I try to use the on-screen keyboard. I tried restarting the game, but it keeps happening. I promise I don't even have my keyboard plugged in so I know that's not the issue. I'm just trying to point-and-click but it's not really letting me. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.

I have the same problem. Using WASD lets the Charakter drift left as soon as I stop hitting the other direction. It’s not possible to stand still except after reaching a boundary. If I never use WASD, I can move for some meters, but then the character starts running in circles or something like this. There seem to be some invisible obstacles you can’t get over with mouse movement. Using WASD and Mouse combined, I can barely reach the lighthouse on the first screen. But It’s taking time, looks very weird and is absolutely no fun.
I've requested a refund, the game is not playable for me. I can’t even complete the very first scene.

Yep. Once I get to the lighthouse I can't get past the staircase with the ladder. I even tried forcing the WASD with my on screen-keyboard combined with the mouse like you, and it still wouldn't work. It's like the left directional key is permanently on from the jump and can't be cancelled or adjusted. Thanks for your comment and sorry you're dealing with the same frustration.

I'm wheelchair bound and don't have the capability to use a regular keyboard or controller. I rely on a mouse and third party on-screen keyboard. This was seemingly a game I could play with just a mouse, that's why I chose the PC version. It's unfortunate because I can tell the Oxenfree was meant to be played as a point-and-click adventure game, so I don't know what went wrong here. It seems like others have voiced their concerns and the developers are at least aware of it I think. Maybe they're working on a fix in an update?

About a week ago my friend helped me update my computer to Windows 11. I had this hunch to try Oxenfree 2 again and I'm glad I did. Success! The auto-walk glitch is completely gone and I've been playing for 8 hours as of now with no problems. I have no idea why that would fix anything, but so far so good.

Still, It does suck for those running Windows 10 and still dealing with this issue. However, today I did notice there was a 6 megabyte update for the game. Has anyone noticed a difference?

I had this issue while vjoy was enabled on my computer. The game saw some sort of input from it even if there was no joystick plugged into my computer.

i think its poorly delt with by the devs, been out so long and so many of us cant even play it still and nothing has been confirmed... so annoying ive done windows 10 and 11 both issues on both systems

Yikes. I'm sorry you're still not able to play. Are you playing the most recent version? I know they've released two different patches since my initial post.

I've been in touch with a representative in email who says the last patch was intended to fix a variety of issues, including movement-based glitches. Still, I haven't been able to confirm whether the patch addressed our specific issue or not.

Just got this bug today Sept 24. Unplayable on mouse, keyboard, or controller. :/ So stuck until devs fix.

Yeah ive done everything, and i was so waiting for this game so sad to see alot of ppl struggle with this and sad my hype has gone :|

Hello...

In my case, it was resolved by disconnecting my Logitech G29 from the USB.
Even if you don't have a steering wheel, there may be some controller connected. It's worth testing.

Even have a new Pc now, was leaning back with coffee and ready to try it again... after conversation then it still goes left im done! tried not to be salty but total boycot of these devs from now on! i tried contacting them no response

Hi!
In my case the Thrustmaster T300 steering wheel is conected to PC and wheel was slightly turned to the right so ingame character walked to the right as well. I just centred the wheel and problem was solved!
