The Duchess says I'm a monster?

I've killed at most 3-5 creatures in the view of self defense, one in the corrupted lands, the demon under my manor , and maybe some involving a quest. Yet her mind probe says "nah, you love killing" Did the devs not account for kill counts?

I think it's supposed to be your "past" before you started the game, as the player.

There IS different dialogue there that accounts for your actions in game -- at least, there was in EA, and I can't imagine they took it out. I recall other people stating she has a line saying you've only killed "when your hand was forced", and there may be other variations. But it seems bugged right now. She called me a killer as well despite the fact that I haven't killed a single thing (except the duke in Hallow Castle), and she also commented on my "choices" in a quest I haven't finished yet.

Yeah that dialogue is bugged, she talks about what you did in the flesh farms quest, even if you haven't started it yet.

Yeah, same thing happened to me. Now, I did kill a lot of NPCs, but they were mostly Goblins and Outlaws who both attack you on sight, so I felt like that would fall under self-defense. Considering that those two factions feel extremely unfinished, I was really hoping the game wouldn't judge me on my faction standing with them.

I did get the judgement on the flesh farm quest as well which left me very confused because I didn't get a quest when I went there beforehand. Good to know it's bugged.

Yeah I've tried a full pacifist run/no killing and she still says the same thing, I'm hoping it's a bug and gets patched.

I haven't killed a single person, except an inquisition agent at the start, and goblins. Calls me a monster as well, seems harsh

I've looked at the save file* and it seems the kills are counted incorrectly. I am unsure what is broken, but there was no way for me to have defeated 50+ enemies at that point (I had killed only 2 undead for the wyrm's quest). There is also a separate boolean variable for the ranges (none, a few, normal).

*For reading, any text editor suffices (I used Notepad++). For writing, a hex editor is necessary (HxD).

I started a new game and just ran there without killing nor attacking any creature. when i got there she had the dialogue "Oh, you really didnt lie" or smt like that. so she did infact not call me a monster.

Thank you for the information. I am happy to know that the issue has been fixed for the new playthroughs, at least.

her dialogue about the flesh farm quest is still bugged as of latest patch feb 2025
