Glorious silk alchemy recipe doesn't work

I've lost so much silk to this. I need 1 more glorious silk to upgrade my hat, and the guides here all say Strong/exceptional spirit + normal silk = glorious silk. All I ever get doing this recipe is another spirit back

Same for the supposed fine ore + exceptional spirit = emberian ore. That doesn't work either, I lost one of my fine ores since it just returned a spirit back when I attempted it.

Am I doing something wrong?

Yea same, did try this aswell. I guessed first it was based on where you put the thread/spirit, but no luck. Also noticed you can make shuriken with 2 throwing knifes and a weak spirit with throwing knife + shuriken. So you can make loads of spirits tho xD. Maby spirit is used for something else now? and upgrading ores/silk is not doable anymore?

pretty sure upgrade paths are still like
Iron Ore + Strong Spirit = Mithril
Mithral Ore + Exceptional Spirit = Emberim

same with silk, you can't go from T1 to T3, you have to go T1 > T2 then T2 > T3

Yeah, I tried basic silk with all three types of spirit and each time just got the spirit back... it's either a bug or those recipes have been removed from the release version.

There is a creature that you can harvest glorious silk from (it looks like the floating silk creatures, but a bit fancier); I've only found one so far which was on the island you can reach via a lift in a green shell, near to Hallow Town. You need to buy the bone key from the magic shop in Hallow Town to get access

Also the shops in Hallow Town sell t2 ore/silk. They restock both. Can be expensive but means it can be endless if u grind abit.

The recipes are removed in the release version. The things hinting towards the recipes are still present in the game, however, sadly. Spirits do not upgrade your ore/silk anymore. It was a measure put in place so people could get all the ores before the places the ores spawned were all present in the game.

Actually yes I did play, it, at the time of commenting I hadn't had time to boot the game up (or progress enough) when 1.0 came out.

But I will confirm which others have, including OP's question, that you can't seem to combine spirits with silk to upgrade it, Idk about ores, but it seems like ore got the nerf too from other comments.

However with cloth stuff only needing two pieces to upgrade I wasn't really hurting too much, and the few Glorious Silkslugs were enough to have me on my merry way.

Ore I managed to collect enough to get up to the Emberium level by the time I made it to the Machine Kingdom.

Honestly there's much more ore lying around that they might as have just left in the recipes to upgrade silk/ore. Because even, spoilers, endgame there's chests and idle Iron ore just chilling... Iron Ore, at the last jaunt of the game.
