Similar games to Dread Delusion
Finished the game a week an a half ago. I was impressed and left a very positive review. I'm now feeling a it down due to finishing a great game and not sure what to do next. Would like to know about similar games (i.e. open world RPG) to this that could scratch the itch left by Dread Delusion.

I already have Morrowind and Oblivion in my library so they are the obvious choices. But I would like to know about any others, possibly lesser known ones.

Lunacid comes to mind first

Looking through my library I'd recommend trying the following. These games aren't all fantasy style but in terms of the swift movement and open world idea, I would recommend:

TES: Arena. Easy to overlook this one, but its quite good once you start figuring out what to do and getting into it.

TES: Daggerfall. Recommend for the same reasons, and its got an open unity project which overhauls a lot of the interface and makes it easier to play. However, this is the only TES game I didn't like.

Definitely check out the Subnautica series but that's fairly well known.

Star Explorers. Similar style graphics space game. A little rough around the edges but I like it. Under appreciated gem IMHO.

Outer Wilds. For this one the fewer guides you look at the better, since the game is so exploration based.

Salt 2. Open world sailing / pirate combat game. Maybe hit or miss because the combat is island focused, i.e. you won't have battles on the high seas.

Farming simulator.... Maaaybe?? You get a lot of freedom in it. On my current playthrough I haven't planted a single crop and am doing a solar farm.. for reasons.

Medieval Dynasty. RPG in the sense that you create the story by building towns and such. I enjoy it but didn't care for how fast time passes in the game by default. Its got a lot of settings you can adjust to lock into your own preferences though.

Probably most of these aren't what you're after, but maybe one of these will catch your attention.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is an amazing game that I'm sure you will like. It's much more high fidelity, but has a very similar dark fantasy vibe. It is still in EA though.

It’s much more like morrowind with the strange alien world mixed with almost sci-fi steam punk aesthetics I don’t really get a Daggerfall vibe. But I’d say if you like this game you will like morrowind and visa versa

Seeconding Lunacid, but it's not really an open-world RPG. You'll find combat somewhat similar though, since Kira, Lunacid's dev has helped with Dread Delusion's combat system very early on.

I'd say try Lunacid if you were into the general atmosphere of DD as opposed to story and characters. Lunacid's world and story are way more about vibes and conceptual things, and are way more dark fantasy compared to Dread Delusion's weird fantasy.

Hello, Thanks everyone for the replies.

Lunacid was the first game I looked at given it was in a bundle with DD but I was uncertain about it given its more of a Dungeon Crawler rather than open world (not saying its bad or that I won't get it later).

I'm planning to get Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon since it looks right up my street and I've wish listed Star Explorers as it looks interesting (and a bargain given its price :)

Of course I've already got a bunch of un-played games in my library like the aforementioned Morrowind and Oblivion. But I'm sure many people here can relate.

To re-iterate thanks to everyone here for giving their suggestions.

Just found out the same developer as Star Explorers has also made a game called Islands of the Caliph. Seems to have a few similarities to Dread Delusion. It is made in an even more retro style and according to one review it has a simple combat system with a small open world that is densely and carefully packed with secrets.
The dev has a couple other games on their itch.io page for free: https://lovelyhellplace.itch.io/

They also made the short game "Shatter" for the first Dread X Collection, which had a very similar art direction (available on Steam).

Lunacid scratched the same itch that this game is for me.
Looks like Mohrta will be a similar vibe, just finished the demo and as a dd fan it hit a lot of the weird fantasy notes but with more of a boomer shooter dungeon crawler structure

i played Pale Abyss on steam recently, it's a demo for a larger game, but it was very cool, great vibes, a lotta potential. More like King's Field (but easier) than Morrowind.
