Munch's Oddysee 2016 [update 16]
July 25, 2016 - Munch's Oddysee now updated

Hi all.

We have now promoted the beta branch to default, which means if you weren't on the beta branch you should now get the new version automatically.

If you wish to go back to the original port, opt in for the "original" branch via the game properties screen in Steam.

For info on the new port, click here - http://www.oddworld.com/2016/07/munchs-oddysee-75-off-celebrate-new-steam-trading-cards-hd-work/

Thanks!

Oddworld.

--- --- --- --- Updates --- --- --- ---

Oct 16, 2018 / update 16

- The missing HD assets lost in the previous update have been restored.

Jan 17, 2018 / update 15

- The Demonic achievement has been fixed

Aug 2, 2016 / update 14

- Higher quality pre-rendered cut-scenes
- Fixes to camera inversion and targeting during real-time cut-scenes
- A few new 'HD' character models

July 30, 2016 / update 13

- audio quality improved
- sound effects from Munch's Oddysee HD added
- brightness adjusted on first boot to better match Xbox version
- video player now uses the original 4:3 aspect ratio

Please note that the brightness settings won't change for existing saves, only new ones. To replicate, move Brightness to 0 and the three Gamma sliders to 4.

July 25, 2016 / update 12

Game will now run at 60 FPS, PC spec allowing.

July 24, 2016 / update 11

Fixes to certain characters not being the upgraded 'HD' models. Fixes to Quikload system.

July 22, 2016 / update 10

Reduced the possibility of the game crashing when ALT-F4'ing to quit. Spooce achievement fixed.

July 22, 2016 / update 9

Tweaks made to the way the aiming/camera works. That is, the right stick will no longer also move the camera when firing.

July 21, 2016 / update 8

Adds support for sub-4:3 aspect ratios, fixes video skip bug when playing on keyboard, fixes end of game returning to game rather than credits, and fixes the Armored Slig texture issues.

April 27, 2016 / update 7

Fixes for end-of-game issues including video pausing and skipping, plus fixes for the pink quads on the trees.

Mar 05, 2016 / update 6

HD texture updates and some 3D audio fixes.

Feb 26, 2016 / update 5

Integrated some more HD assets, including the remainder of the Mudokons, the core Slig model, Munch's wheelchair and the Slogs.

Feb 26, 2016 / update 4

Fixed some sound panning issues.

Feb 25, 2016 / update 3

Bug-fixes and HD character integration.

UI fixes for the buttons have been pushed live to the beta branch, along with the introduction of the higher resolution / higher poly models and textures from Munch HD for Abe, Sligs and Munch. These go alongside the Munch HD environments and textures already in this beta.

Feb 25, 2016 / update 2

Beta released.

Please note this is a work-in-progress beta. It will attempt to migrate your old save games (and copy the old ones into another folder just in case) but we can't guarantee you won't lose any save game progress from the old port. If you decide to opt out of the beta, you'll need to copy the saves back from the new folder.

Please note the beta requires at least Windows 7.

We are aware of a number of bugs and issues with this beta, some front-end, some UI, some in-game, but we welcome all feedback.

We are continuing to investigate multi-language support - this beta currently only offers English.

You'll notice some assets from the HD version, especially in the environments.

We hope you enjoy this opportunity to try this new beta build, but we do emphasize that it is work in progress and accept no responsibility for loss of progress. Please back-up your current save file if you're concerned at all about the automatic save migration not working fully as expected at this stage.

Please note that the trading cards, badges and so on will only be activated once we leave beta and release this new port fully.

Feb 25, 2016 / update 1

We planned to open up the beta yesterday but this has been pushed back a little to allow us to experiment with something interesting which should hopefully pay off. We'll have more information as soon as possible.

We've also built in automatic save migration, so your saves from the original port will merge onto the new port automatically, but only once.

Feb 19, 2016

We pushed out some re-distributables this week that we guessed some people were missing that were part of the depot.

Chances are this has made the first port a lot more stable for those people who didn't have the libraries already installed. Depending on what you already had installed, the download ranged from 100MB to over 3GB.

We're continuing with our plans to update Munch with the new port (that is already on mobile and Mac) and have seeded the beta version to a few players already who are reporting great things.

We are looking into - but no promises - a way to get the old EFIGS language subs in there along with the original EFIGS movies. Working with code this old and archives isn't easy, but we're trying.

Finally, we've integrated trading cards into this upcoming update. New cards, backgrounds, emotes and badges. They'll go live for everyone when the new update moves out of beta and drops are awarded every 30 minutes.

i found one bug for now : at sloghut level , if you drop a slig or a slog through the recycler , this one will shied away from the map in the opposite direction (this bug was also in the old porting). Apart this , i found it very good! i'm also glad that you're searching for the other languages :)

I am sure you are aware of the inconsistency of the UI elements. In game it always shows playstation buttons and in menus always xbox buttons.

When Abe takes two different Sodas in the level Spooceshrub Forest after the first effect is gone the other disappears too and you have to wait until the counter reaches zero before you can drink the soda again to get the effect.

Looks pretty good. Sound is glitchy for me though - it's either mono or stereo but with sound going full volume into either left or right ear with nothing in-between depending on what settings I choose. Also some sounds seem to go very very far, I can hear mudokons chanting on the other side of map as if I was next to them.

Thanks for that video. Was this based on loading up a save file from the old port? Or did you get there from a previous level on the new port?

I always had this bug on PC, with all recyclers in the game. (in the old port)
Edit: I'm going to try with the new port without loading an old save.

The audio panning should be a lot smoother with the latest update.
