I'll be working on getting the NNEDI3 upscaled to 1280x960 versions done soon, depending on how big they are it might be worth using them instead, hopefully they won't be 8GB like the 2560x1920 versions :P
Like I said it almost looks like they were actually rendered at that resolution, NNEDI3 really is a great upscaler. (if anyone reading this is on Windows you can install madVR which can apply it to any video you watch, you just need a good GPU for it otherwise it won't be able to upscale in real-time..)
EDIT: Doh.. I left out one file from the 4x upscaled upload, MunchFree.wmv, I'll upload it seperately once the 2x version is done since I don't want to spend another 3 hours uploading a new zip :P
2x version is uploaded also.
The cut-scene quality we were already looking at, and the devs are currently re-encoding, but we'll point them to this thread.
Nice work :)
This is awesome . The only thing that is a "problem" is the dowload limit with mega =( , I really want the 4x res movies , but after a 13% it tells me that i have reached my download limit =( i need to wait for barely 7hs , i think i will have to wait .
So basically we can upscale any video with this method, that includes abe's classic games videos also ?
great work Havoc!!!
Since the new cutscenes are equal to or better than the ones I made I'll edit my post to reflect this, great work Oddworld :)
Also major thanks for fixing the inversion options, once again proving Oddworld is one of the best dev companies that actually listen to their fans :D
@Oddworld Admin at least you could thank Havoc for his encode.
If you're on Firefox or Chrome you can download a MEGA extension that bypasses the browser cache so you can download larger files:
Firefox: https://mega.nz/#firefox
Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mega/bigefpfhnfcobdlfbedofhhaibnlghod?hl=en
These extensions are safe, I've tested the Chrome one myself and had no issues. If you're worried you could always remove them after downloading the file, personally I kept it installed incase I run into any other MEGA files in the future.
Depends on the format of the videos, and sometimes on the games programming. Not sure if the classic Abe games would work since the game runs in 640x480, but maybe the programming allows higher resolution videos, I'm not sure.
Also I'm not sure what format the Abe videos are in, I think it might be a PlayStation-unique format, so ffmpeg might not support them.
For other games it could work though, but like I said it mostly depends on those two: the format of the video and the games programming.
As far as we know, the devs used their own encoding, but that does sound like something we should check... Bear with us...
(and despite what some people might think, torrents aren't just used for illegal downloads, plenty of legal files are shared on torrents, such as Linux distributions and other free software. I even heard Steam itself works via torrents, not sure how correct that statement is though :P)
EDIT: I've made a torrent here: http://www97.zippyshare.com/v/l1guuung/file.html
It contains both x2 and x4 upscales, your torrent client should allow you to download just the one you want.
I'm not really sure how well this'll work, or if it'll work at all. I'll keep trying to seed for as long as I can, but I don't really have the best upload speed, so other seeders would be greatly appreciated :)
