Is this game no longer cannon?
I read in an interview somewhere that Lorne Lanning is changing up his original vision of the oddworld quintology so that it is more focused on abe rather than a new character per game, so does that mean this game is no longer canon?

More like theres a new timeline. The original timeline of Odyssey, Exodus, Munch, and Stranger. And the new order of Odyssey or New Tasty, Soulstorm..........

This game, as it is, is no longer canon. However, this doesn't mean that everything is being thrown out. There are vykkers being shown in Soulstorm, so we will probably see more of Munch and the fuzzles at some point as well.

I don't like the idea of Munch's Odysee and Stranger's Wrath no longer being Canon.

I love these games and find that they really enrich the world.

Soul storm seems like a retread of the first game rather than a progression.

I wouldn't mind as long as it continues in the same continuity.
People normally reboot after they screw up an instalment - "Wrath" was a critical and Commercial success.

It was a critical success but not a commercial success

I thought it sold well on Xbox. It was an exclusive back in the day.
Anyway, it was very well received, why through that away?

Why not set Souldstorm after Munch’s Odysee?

From what I understand, all the old games are not canon anymore. The new quintology starts with New 'n' Tasty. So Abe's Oddysee is still canon essentially since the story is the same. When they made Exoddus they only had like 6-9 months to make the game. They wanted to spend much more time on it and upgrade the engine and stuff, but couldn't do to time constraints. The story also had to be modified to meet the deadline. Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath weren't exactly in line with the original quintology vision either. Soulstorm essentially will be what they originally wanted to do for the second Oddworld game. Although seeing how Stranger's Wrath pretty much exists in the canon on its own narratively I don't see why it can't be canon until it's contradicted.

Yeah I watched a video with Lone Lanning where he basically said all of that.
I just don't agree! :)
