Can you imagine...
...If the game just let you rotate the orientation of the rooms you get? I mean really, why can't you? You can choose your orientation in games like Betrayal at House on the Hill or Carcassone. The amount of strategy this would add and the amount of RNG this would prevent would fix a lot of issues with this game. If certain rooms need to be static to work, such as the mirror room, that could simply be a trait of those specific rooms that you can't rotate them, you could call them "fixed rooms". Hell, mix it up and make a couple rooms that are always fixed in their north facing position.

Imagine pulling strategies off like intentionally turning a hallway a different way blocking off your current path for the sake of a potentially better path later. The door would just have to open to a brick wall like it already does.

I also think an early game permanent upgrade should allow you to, at the start of your run, pin any single room you've come across to be used at any time during that run. If really needed, again, certain rooms could be exempt from being pinned such as the observatory or other rooms with multiple permanent upgrades.

It can still cost gems and be restricted to certain locations. If a room can only spawn in certain areas, then the pin for that room would just not be usable until you are somewhere where it IS allowed.
I think it could even be a better less tedious way of prodding the locations of certain rooms. It would greatly reduce the RNG frustration of chasing certain rooms ad nauseum and allow you some direction for how your run will go without replacing the roguelike nature of the game. If you missed something, now you can also easily go back and check. If you hate dealing with low gem counts, you can fix a parlor room. If you wanna reserve a hallway instead, or a room with keys, you can do that. If you really don't want a certain room showing up, you could just pin it and not use it. If you want to guarantee your coat check, you could now. Rooms would have to still be discovered first, but would be easily available for revisit.

What do y'all think? Do you like these ideas? If you think it couldn't work, could you explain why? Do you think these things would reduce your enjoyment? Let me know.

For what it's worth, rotating rooms when placing them is a temporary bonus you can acquire. by donating 1-3 gold at the shrine. This bonus will last for 3 game days .

Does that work for every room? I do wish it were a default feature.
You can. Should play more before complaining.
It'd make the Rotunda useless for a start.

It does for as long the bonus is active.
