I've also been working on this and have had trouble. I got two pretty easily by trading for them in the trading post. I know there are at least three but haven't been able to get the third.

There are at least 4 vault keys. I have found 3, and have obtained a 4th, but, the vault didn't happen that day. You can find them all over the place, I think it's just one of the special key items (So maybe the Music room can help? I'm not sure). Trading post has been the most consistent way for me though.

I had a BUNCH of items on trading post one day and nothing, do you know what type of items trade for the vault key

I feel like it's random? Like it's not "You'll get X item for Y item" every time, but, I rarely have spent much time there to be sure. If I get it again I'll try to remember to post it here.

Alright, I was actually also at 3/4

Do you recall how you got the 4th? You traded for it from the sound of it, but do you remember what you traded?

I've never seen one in the Music room, but I remember a random place I've found Vault keys was the Hovel.
The Locksmith probably doesn't sell them either, right?

I have yet to get anything but silver and chrome keys after about 10 key shop purchases

I'm fairly sure the trading post isn't random either. You can find a lot of infinite trading loops.

If you draw locker room and are key rich you can get them there two. I emptied the locker room one day and got two of mine there

I'm pretty sure they just show up randomly in the item pool. "Special items" don't spawn if they're already in the house, so you want to just keep spawning as many items as possible to remove them from the item pool. Buy everything in the Commissary, try to draft other rooms that spawn items like the Attic, etc.

I completely emptied out the locker room and didn't get it there either.

My feeling is that this vault key is different than the others.

I think vault key drops might just be random? I've found them all over, including by digging. Or maybe that specific one you're missing can only be found by digging?
