It was in the patch notes today and post patch it works fine

I wasted a lot of steps heading out into the surface to go check the clock tower and then figured out it says the time can't be 59 minutes or less in the future

Not worth doing more than once if you ask me. Same with hovel

This may be a silly question, but how do I know what time it is in game?
There are clocks in several of the rooms, including the Den, Drawing Room, and Security. There is also a clock on the outside of the house. When the day starts, if you back out of the Entrance Hall, look up and you can see it.

Every clock in game (that I've found), like the one on the front of the building at the start should read the same in-game time.

Day can be learned via things specific things that are dated. Letters, book checkout dates

Worth it for blocking the red rooms, since you're there anyways, you would go down, check for item spawns, set some reasonable time in the future. If you get a garage combo, easy enough to pop out and grab the gems. Otherwise no, overall not entirely worth it.

Niche and specific usage. Doing it solely for the gem however, definitely not the play.

For me its still broken i set up unlock safe at 27 DEC 10:00 AM right at start of the game. I am 51 day in. Drafting studio shows as well 27 Dec. I went back in 10:30 AM and it does not open.

I am also playing on PS5 in Europe.

I'm late to the game here but it looks like a date rendering issue. My game terminal says Nov 4 is the start but on day 8, setting the safe to November 11th did not work. However, setting it to November 15th (as if my in-game date said November 7th like everybody else's) did work. So regardless of what your in-game date shows, assume day one is actually November 7th

Simple thing to do for the correct date is November 6th + Whatever many days you're on. As the first day was November 7th.

(November has 30 days, can use a calendar if you get confused once you're in Feb if it was a leap year or not as it starts in 1993, so 1994 would be the next year)

Every day starts at around 8am. If you're quick to get to the Shelter, set it to 10am then you can explore just the first rooms and head back or just sit in the main entrance until it's 10am.

Remember though you need to set the unlock time 1 hour ahead of time and it only stays open for 4 hours.

Just did that.
Configured the opening at 10:00 AM at the very beginning of the day (so before 9:00 AM).
Went back at 11:00 AM => vault still locked.
Even had the vault, which shows the current date in my playthrough which confirmed my date calculation was OK.

Playing on PC - Windows 11, my timezone is Europe/Paris (French).

I mean, there was a locale bug related to this puzzle, so it wouldn't be shocking if there's another. Assuming you're running the latest version of the game, you could change your system locale to English (US) (and maybe your system language too) and see if that works.

Go it working !

What I've done:

  • went to Win 11 settings -> Time & Language -> Date and Time, and disabled the automatic time zone config and set the Timezone to "Dublin, blabla, London"
  • In Settings, Time and Language -> Language & region -> I've set the regional format to "English (UK)"

Restarted the game, and this time, the time lock safe opened as it should have.
Definitely a date/locale issue here.

If the devs read this => please, PLEASE, use a dedicated library to manage this time calculation. Managing date & time are a PITA in international context.

Time zones only define offset from UTC so, yeah, it's the language setting that did it. Remember, kids, if you want to compare dates and times, compare date and time objects, not strings that represent those objects.

Are they even planning on fixing this? It isn't listed in the known issues.
The timelock safe is one thing, but a lot of other late game puzzles rely on the time of day mechanic. It has become annoying as ♥♥♥♥
On Xbox S, I solved it by changing the console settings. I set the console as if I were playing from the USA and set the time to AM / PM. After the change, I solved the puzzle on the first try, before that I tried at least 10 times without success.
Is this patched yet? I can't seem to get the safe to open despite knowing the date...
