Insufficient Key Simulator 2025
Hey, I'm about 7/8 runs in, and literally every run has ended with all available doors being locked. No matter my strategy, no matter what rooms or items I choose to pick up, the game ends because even though I have 2/3/4 available doors, they're all locked. They're always locked, every door is always locked. No amount of keys, item rooms, closets, etc can stand against the literally endless parade of locked doors in rank 6+.

What is the point of any puzzle in this game, when even if you solve them, RNG decides you don't have enough keys for the infinite locked doors?

"Haha yay I got the 2 gems from the 3-box puzzle, TOO BAD I NEED LIKE 7 MORE KEYS TO WIN"

Like literally, what is the actual *point* of a 'puzzle' game, where 100% of your failures come down to RNG or just straight up unbalanced, bad design?

Just play more. You'll unlock more rooms that tend to have more keys in them over time. There's shops to buy keys. There's items to reduce the amount of keys you might need, and other strategies around it. Just...play more and try to figure out the puzzles to unlock things along the way. You'll definitely get runs that you get locked out of everything, but that's the fun of it. If you don't enjoy that, maybe it's not for you.

This game is like Frog Fractions. Just trying to link rooms to the antechamber is a fingernail scratch on the surface of the game.

As you play more of the meta game, you will get runs where you have a glut of methods (not just keys) to open, bypass, avoid, or nullify locked doors. Some runs, you won't even care about locked doors because it's not what you are solving at the moment.

Keep playing and relax.

Actually you know what, ♥♥♥♥ it, if I'm really missing the forest for the trees here I'm gonna try again. Let's see if I can't see what this game is really doin'. :avgn:
I was in the same boat as you, constant dead ends, locked doors, I felt I was making zero progress and it SUCKED. I was mad, I left a bad review, and I was already past the refund window so i decided to beat the game out of stubbornness.

It genuinely gets better as you play. Takes a little while, and you will need to place rooms strategically (knowing when to play that closet instead of the larger room is part of the learning curve) you will eventually prevail, as I did, and have fun doing so

Frustrating at first, 100%. Satisfying when you finally break through. Still has SOME RNG to it, of course, but i fill up 80% of the house every run now

Two useful tips if you have key shortages.

1. set security to high in the security room... 5-7 less key doors and the odds of getting either the utility closet or the key card are very high
2. I have a room upgrade that increases my "allowance" by 2 each time reach room 46. That quickly adds up to a free key or two at shops when you need it (or whatever else you need)
When you see the telescope room, take it. The more stars, the more items each day, meaning frequently an extra key.
4. the garage and one of the servants rooms have tons of keys in them, makes life easier
5. if you get a shovel, choose green rooms when you see then, they frequently have keys.
Couple of other tips to help with this
- go wide before you go forward as you won't be using keys below rank 4
- if you have multiple routes out of a room then one might not need a key so check first before assuming you have to spend a key
- there is a room upgrade that gives you a free security card if you finish your run in it, makes a big difference imo
