i have bought the axe three times, and now it never shows up anymore, not once in ~20 runs. is there a hidden limit, or have i just been unlucky?

I've only bought it 3 times as well, with the next 4 - 5 runs so far not showing up. I hope its available more, but maybe they figure that would make the game too easy.

I've seen multiple people say they can only use it three times, but nothing about the game telling you this somewhere.
