(SPOILER) Anyone figure out the #3 red letter (or envelope) yet?
Hi, I'm looking for 8 red letters in the game and missing the III (print on envelope) - Here is what I already found:

1. red door - base meant
2. Study
3.
4. Boudoir
5. Drafting Room
6. Drawing Room
7. Shelter - west gate
8. Office

Please help!

Btw what connection to a date does that code carved into the now cut down tree have? I never figured it as a date. Is it just that it fits the format? Hmm. every other date are semi reversible because of international date standards being different... is that code also possible to use both ways?

Isn't that code in a heart? I took it as the date of either a marriage or the start of a couple dating or something similar. I think there is even a dash between the pair of numbers, which gives date vibes.
Yeah, but it has the month and day the wrong way around for me to recognize it as a date.
I found that code way before I figured out the pairring puzzle or any of the other dates. Plus I was kind of expecting the safes to have longer codes than 4 digits (because 366 combinations seems like too few to be secure), so I was initially expecting a year as well. That carving just looked like a reminder for the padlock to me. The heart could easily have been a redherring or a statement of their love for apples.
Either way all the other dates are written on the corresponding red letter. I was kind of asking for something like that.

I think it has the same month date order as the rest of the safes? Unless you can put them in either order. I'm from the US, and I imagine the dev is as well because I know dates are ordered differently in other countries (don't remember which English speaking countries do it which ways). All the other safes I was able to open with month-day formatting.

You can put them in either order on at least 5.

The safes can be done in either order actually. I can see the orchard being a safe, given that the underground letter is locked in a similar way.,

I think it is implied he stole it because you find the jewel stand in the orchard shack where the guidebook used to be before he hide it in the greenhouse. At least this is my interpretation.

right and the point is even if he stole it that doesn't mean it's not findable. Technically they ALL were stolen yet you find them.

I think the timeline for this letter stealing operation is somehow misinterpreted.

Denny Revane stole letters from Room 46's desk
He makes a blackmail letter and seals them up in Red envelopes (The greenhouse reveals as much)
He gets paid and returns the letters to Herbert.
Herbert then takes the red letters, and scatters them to 8 hidden locations. He knows where all of the letters are at this point. (The freezer clue reveals as such) Presumably he included a gemstone for each except for the Drafting room
Simon Jones starts looking for the letters, he finds 7 and is left horribly bewildered by Alzarah.

The next bit is just speculation and conjecture on my part

The BIG mystery here is Alzarah actually. He knows too much to have been put there by Herbert. The only way he could prophecize about a missing letter is if the person who took said letter wrote his script. I suspect Mary took the letter itself and left Alzarah with a clue that it won't be found where you'd expect to find it.

The alternative is that Alzara is actually magic. Which doesn't feel like a terrible stretch to me. No more than a house that rearranges itself every day.

Or Alzarah is for real magical (from the rainy country?) and noone wrote any scripts for him. He just predicts the future with unknown accuracy.

Also as far as I can tell we have only found 6 letters of the original 8, as the letter in the office shouldn't be one of the original 8 that were stolen...

Has anyone tried digging with the upgraded shovels at the spot one up from the bottom of the west side. the soil survey shows that it's barren ground conveniently symbolized by an X. The fact that the soil survey is in the same room as the discarded Ruby Holster make me wonder.
It's likely no one will be able to find that 8th letter (#3) until they decide to add it in the future. There is seemingly a bunch of stuff like that: 7/8 red letters, 7/8 red jewels removed from the Red Crown, the painting/door by the Key of Aries tomb-clock which is clearly on rails but cannot be opened yet, the "final puzzle", the possible keyhole in a couple of different clocks, the other "precipice" area you can see from the current one (even mentioned in letters), the missing Marigold bust in Room 46, etc. That isn't a list of everything, but it definitely seems like enough that they have some sort of future content patch planned. <shrug>

You know what, despite all my extensive research and analysis, including Alzara, I didn't consider that detail - him having such precise knowledge while all other prophecies and statements are so vague. That being said, after looking at the dates... it's unlikely. Mary left the country in november 1988. Denny Revane started his journal in february 1990. So that means she had already left when he stole the letters. But that's good to have at least partially covered that question. Back to square one.

All the rubies from the crown are accounted for though.
2 showed up in public (red letter 7 in shelter), 6 still in the estate...

That is letter 8 for you?
My letter 8 is in the office by the blackmailer.
My mistake, it was #7

I think it is patently obvious where Red Letter #3 is. The game is not quite complete. There is a challenge missing from the game, there is a reward missing from the game. They are not actually present in the game at the moment, but will be in the future, which is why datamining hasn't helped. If you absolutely have no patience and have to know RIGHT NOW, check the spoilery hidden message: DIRIGIBLOCKS!
