Timeouts ? (spoiler)
In Blackrock you can change a setting to set the length of time before the terminals' login timeout. When I saw this it sounded super OP, but it doesn't seem to do anything? Is it a bug or do I not get what it does?

Anyone figured out if it does anything? Perhaps setting it to "one month" trigger an in-universe security measure because it's too long and it gets ignored? (But there should be an error message somewhere then)
Doesn't work for me either. Tried a month, tried a week, the setting is saved but it has never done what it's seemingly meant to
Might have figured out the answer: it does work, but you have to have already drafted the room with the terminal in question. E.g., if you've drafted Office, you can go to Security and access the Office terminal remotely even if you haven't activated the Office terminal manually yet. This is basically only good for saving the two footsteps it would take to enter and exit the room if you have no other reason to go in there, and this might be true even if you haven't changed the login timeout: it's such a niche scenario that it only came up after I had already set it to "monthly." No idea why they even bothered putting this in the game if it's intended to work this way, so it's still very possible it's just bugged.
It removes the annoying "connecting..." load times I think
When you set it to one month, once you log in into a terminal, that terminal will be accessible from any other terminal remotely for one month without having to have drawn that terminal's room (it'll show as offline if you haven't logged in it that day, but you can in fact access it). This kind of remote access lasts for one month (it refreshes every time you locally login to the terminal).

One important thing is that using one terminal, you can only remote access to one other terminal using this method each day. For example, if you use the sec terminal to remote access the lab, that day you can't use the sec terminal to also access the shelter terminal. But if you draw an office, then you can use the office terminal to access the shelter (but then won't be able to access the lab from the office). The game informs you about this, but the wording is very confusing.

This is very useful for the lab. You get a lab generally very late in the run (if even you get it). But you usually get a security room very early. You can use the security terminal to remote access the lab and start the experiment early in the run. You no longer need the lab room.

Just remember that this remote access expires after one month of no local login into a terminal. So log in from time to time from the lab terminal even if you don't need it so the month refreshes.

This is it. Super useful, I try to pull Security or Laboratory every day, and use the remote feature from one to access the other.

I'm still confused. This sounds like the effect you get just for solving the lab puzzle and enabling the blackbridge connection in the first place, which lets you remote into a computer you haven't placed. What changes after you figure out the admin password and change the timeout settings?

I don't think you can do that until you change the timeout, do you?

I was definitely doing that before changing the timeout

After looking a bit, it seems you're right. I only found out about this feature just after setting the timeout and I though it was that.

It looks like it just removes the "connecting..." message, suposedly.

Which "connecting..." message? When logging to network or when accessing remote terminal? Because I am not sure the former even exists, but i definitelly still get the "connecting" message when remotely accessing terminals (that i drafted literally the day before), even though I have the setting set to "one month".
Yeah, my suspicion is that it's meant to be an upgrade of the Remote Terminal Access that lets you remotely access any terminals currently activated in this way, without the only-one-a-day limit, but doesn't actually work right now.
I also was using RTA daily long before getting into the admin system settings, and am still getting the "Connecting..." and prompt to enter the password all the time.
It just makes connecting to the network a little bit faster. You just skip the old school modem beep boop noises. That's all it is.

My read is that the remote-connect feature probably doesn't work at all, unless that room has been pulled in the last 30 days. That would make sense with that setting.

I have connected to the shelter in runs where I have never pulled the shelter before.
