There's really no reason to be this rude. The dousing rod isn't part of any puzzle. It's pretty much irrelevant to the game. If they made it so it could dig, nothing would be different.
You don't have to be nice, but also nobody has to like you. "I don't have to be nice" is the logic of a little kid. You should have enough shame to behave properly in public.
It was just so disheartening to loose the shovel when I have crafted with it in the past and still been able to use it.
But in the end, it's fine. You are right.
What is the point of any of this if you aren't being nice to people?
