Dousing rod
There should be a warning that this takes away your shovel. This basically ruined an amazing run I had because I didn't know I was loosing my shovel to make this... or you should let us take things apart that we can put together.

there should not be a warning, you get it by using the workshop to combine the tools of course its going to remove it from your inventory to use it to make something new, thats a you issue and something you didnt make the logical conclusion towards aparently

Literally all other combinations that use the shovel still allows you to dig. You also don't get a picture of what exactly you're making so you don't know it takes away the shovel part.
They should also let us take back a room after we enter it and find out we don't like it! That was irony, of course. It gets a bit tiring reading the 100th "They should make the game easier!" post.

Actually you do get a picture if you look in the bottom right when crafting, and every other item that you craft with the shovel still looks like a shovel where the dousing rod does not making this argument null and voided

I know right, it makes me question if these people have ever played a puzzle game where it doesn't explain for you and instead you have to make your own logical conclusions

There's really no reason to be this rude. The dousing rod isn't part of any puzzle. It's pretty much irrelevant to the game. If they made it so it could dig, nothing would be different.

You don't have to be nice, but also nobody has to like you. "I don't have to be nice" is the logic of a little kid. You should have enough shame to behave properly in public.

"I don't have to be nice" is the logic of someone who had been on the internet long enough to realize some random person opinion doesn't matter to them because I don't know who you are, you don't know who I am and we won't have any nteraction outside of this website/platform so why should I dress up my statements and not be blunt and truthful of my thoughts exactly as they are, which is what I did. Be blunt and truthful of my thoughts that all the people complaining about making the game easier have likely not played a hard puzzle game before, you see it as rude and I see it as being blunt and honest where others will not

Perhaps, but, this is also a game of the player poking and prodding to see what happens. Almost everything is a "Well let's see what THIS does so I know for next time" and crafting items is one of those things. I think it's Fine, but I can also understand how frustrating it can be to lose an item you were using. (I actually don't even know what the dousing rod does, I haven't crafted it yet!)

I had so many holes, and had the treasure map, and opened that location.

It was just so disheartening to loose the shovel when I have crafted with it in the past and still been able to use it.

But in the end, it's fine. You are right.

What is the point of any of this if you aren't being nice to people?
