Why no in game notepad

The game wants you to take notes so why isn't there a notepad/journal in game to take notes

Also Steam provides this feature anyway, called Steam Notes, if you wanna just type stuff

Amazing selling point for the steam version. Not so much for the gamepass/Xbox/Playstation users :P

The screenshot feature (f12) is very useful too. Sorry for the other platforms but yes, Steam has big advantages for this game.

Im using OneNote, categorising all rooms into one page each, with screenshots, notes, hints pasted in where they belong. Works extremely well!

I could swear there was something like that in the demo. Like a notepad that automatically saved important hints...

There is so much to note down, I cannot imagine an in-game notepad would be really useful (esp when using a controller). Screencaptures are a huge saver though, yeah! I do feel like the game should have a 'gallery'-type page recording all documents you've encountered -- but then again, a lot of them benefit from being observed more closely, or from their environment.
Ftr, having played the demo A LOT, for the full game I literally got a binder and colour-coded notes :D

The in-game reason: You are told in the first envelope/note that you cannot bring any outside tools or bring anything inside the manor outside of it, so you wouldn't be able to use a notepad.
Out of game, just use a physical notepad.
