I think I've cracked it but it didn't give up much.

I think this is the end message: If we count small gates eight dates crack light safes.
Some quibbles with the puzzle: I am uncertain about the a in gates, is it coast/cost? the picture does not remind me of a price tag. also i think there should be two ties in the painting that goes beside the cake stand....

This doesn't result in much. I already knew that Christmas (1225) opened the safe in the boudoir. I guess the orchard gate is one of the 8 "safes" by the "if we count small gates" part. The other two safes I know of are in the office and the study.

Maybe it's something that's more important in the full version. I wonder if this is something that will be the same in every game or if there will be different messages.

I can confirm that all of the safes I've found so far have been opened with dates as the combinations, so far I've found 7 of the 8 safes if you include the orchard gate.

Is this the study puzzle? I seen it once in my 12 hours. I don't understand it. Again, this is where I feel out of my depth and I hope there are things that are going to point players to these puzzles should they choose.

It's a puzzle not specific to any room, there are multiple hints to it. Not strictly required, but this puzzle hints/confirms a mechanic for the safes.

I think he means all the hints in the Study Room which does very much relate to all this and those are probably the biggest hints to this puzzle. There's also a drawing of the same house grid that only shows up on a specific grid square which may help in understanding it (2nd row, most west row).
