RNG?
Is this really true RNG? It always seems stacked to me - every time I get what I think is an advantage, I get days of nothing. I love this game, but it can be so frustrating at times

My recommendation is every day have plenty of gems, the study, the locksmith, and adjust your room rarities.

Be ready to pivot from your chosen task to something else if things aren't looking good. As an example I've been trying to reroll my disc upgrades and I did not have a good place to put in Showroom so instead I raised my stars and allowance and solved one of the meta puzzles.

Thanks mate. This gives me some confidence. Onwards to another day. As I say, I'm loving this game, but just get frustrated that I get 3 / 4 days of good fortune, and then the same level of not. My fault though, I get the rage and just move ahead with rooms I should be planning better for

I'm on day 104 and I think I may be close to the end of the game but each person is going to have their own speed and there is no time limit.

Don't feel you have to go fast.

I do want to offer a bit of advice. Find the perma unlocks, they really help. Also start to learn which rooms spawn where and what items and if they have any restrictions. You will find clues all over the place for things you might not yet be able to do. Just keep your photos and journal handy.

Managing your resources is the most critical because you might be fine in the lower ranks but once you get to the higher ones, you're going to need the keys and you always need at least THREE gems for something like Rotunda which is a 4 door effectively and lets you rotate.

REROLLING IS KING make sure you always have some on you, else you're stuck wasting doors.

How far in, are you?

You can always ask me questions.

It's not just you, and the RNG is progressively rigged in your favour after you hit certain day milestones. Although in the late game that rigging doesn't help much.

If you're just trying to reach the Antechamber for the first time at the moment, then here's a few general tips:
  • Always open every door when you enter a room.
  • If you can visit a new room, then it's often worth the cost of ruining a run. You might get a puzzle piece or even get a permanent upgrade.
  • Take screenshots of information-dense hints instead of just writing them down, as some rooms are quite rare and it'll be a pain if you want to check them again.
  • Craft the power hammer and find uses for it. Coat check it at the end of runs.

I agree with these.

Thanks again mate. I've got some permanent upgrades on the outside, but don't want to spoil it for others. I think I just got frustrated today. I have the Power Hammer in the coat check, but that hasn't come up for 4 days....I'm probably just being petulant.

Cheers mate, help is most appreciated. I have the power hammer in the coat check, so going to give it another couple of whirls before I need to crack open the liquor before work tomorrow :)

I've noticed coat check is more likely to appear the day after you add something and in like ranks 1-3, possibly 4. 5 and above it is pretty hard to get reliably.

It also should be said mine is common.

Honestly if you're really just trying to get coat check you could nuke the run if you don't get it before rank 4.

You're more likely to get dead-ends on the sides of the house.
I know how you feel though. I stashed a hammer early on and couldn't retrieve it for ages. The game won't spawn in whatever you've stored, so I couldn't get a new one.

Is that for real? I mean I know it won't spawn 4 door rooms.

Unless I'm misremembering, you won't get anything that could exit the side of the house.
Corners are the most extreme, only allowing L-shape rooms and dead-ends.

You can get T rooms, straight thrus, corners, and dead ends. I didn't realize it was weighted to put dead ends there tho.

It's not really weighted as far as I'm aware, it's just that the pool is reduced, so you're more likely to get dead ends. Even more strongly in corners. If you remove all the rooms that can't possibly be placed, a huge part of the room pool that's left is dead ends.
You should also be drafting from other columns. If you draft a west wing room from the west wing, spare room and other such rooms are part of the pool. If you draft them from the second column, you can't draft those since they'd go straight through the side wall.

This is absolutely correct and great advice. There is only one room, that I remember, that can point out of the house.

Be aware there are a couple of rooms that must be drafted from East/West to get on to the wing and a couple of North/South only specific drafts on the wing. The ideal case is Column 2 and 4 being mostly T and 4way always driving North, but don't try to force that part.
