Orchard Lock

I've beaten the game and solved loads of clues I have 4 red letters, 3 sigils, found the safe house in the basement, found the secret admin keys to get the deleted logs in the grotto, I have the other 3 permanent grounds locations and 3 blue flames lit, etc. but for the LIFE of me I cannot figure out the clue for the lock on the gate to the orchard. I have pulled a few threads I've tried using the number of steps each fruit gives you (2,3,5,X) and the number of stars for the farmer's apple (6) but nothing. I don't want the answer but I could really use a hint because I don't think it's even supposed to be that hard lol I must be missing something obvious?? I tried looking up a discussion about this already but no one has even asked for help on this soooo please help me be less stupid
