Billiards puzzle confusion

What am I confused about here re how these rules work?

A third of 10 (roughly) is 3
Times 3 is 9
Squared is 81
Minus a third of 3 (so 1) is 80
Divided by 11 is... not a natural number (and also the right answer isn't 8)

Don't do "roughly"
A third of 10 is 3 1/3. Times 3 is 10.
What the hell is that?

Boy am I glad I just took the speakeasy upgrade.

*me coming in here to solve this*
What the hell is that yellow line on the number 3, I'm avoiding billiards now I don't want to ever see that.

lol this is one of the simpler advanced ones too, overall. there actually *are* approximate to the nearest 1/10/100 options as well!

eta: ...in light of which it really ought to have occurred to me that if the above puzzle wanted me doing that, it would have used them, huh? XD

Because
(10 / 3) * 3 = 10 * 1/1 (the threes' cancel out).
10^2 = 100
100 - (3/3) = 99
99 / 11 = 9

Thanks! I don't mind the maths part, myself, though; just didn't understand the rules properly (I thought you had to finish one step and have a whole number as your result before proceeding to the next step).
