Workshop question

I'm guessing it's already been answered in one of the countless threads but I don't want to accidentally read spoilers.

I've drafted the workshop a few times now but haven't had the chance to create new items yet and I wanted to know if items are lost forever if you combine them or if they are just lost for the rest of that run.

The items are used up for that day.

Just for the rest of the day. The only thing that might stop you from finding the items again is having an equivalent item in the coat check.

If you store the combined item in the Coat Check some (or all) of the items combined won't be available until the end of the day you take it out of Coat Check.
(Some combined items remove all the items used to make them from the item pool, some only remove 1.)
