[BIG SPOILERS] Need help with near-endgame dilemma

So I'm currently working on the 'reclaim the throne' event. I have the crown and the scepter, and I have the shrine drafted so I can go and grab the effigy outside. My problem is this: where I drafted my throne room would leave me with zero steps remaining the moment I enter the room due to the curse. Does anyone know if I would I still activate the event even with zero steps remaining, or is it a better idea to store the effigy for later in the coat check and just deal with the effects of the scepter?

Hard to say for sure without testing, but my money is on the day ending first. No chance for additional steps after being cursed? You can get more even after through the usual means (kitchen/dining room/observatory/etc).

Grabbed all the food from the dining room already. Tried to get sneakers but ran out of keys to draft more rooms

When I got cursed I lost tons of steps retroactively. So the second you pick it up you are probably doomed. Store the effigy. Though you probably already ended the day by now one way or another.
