Screw math and screw the 3 boxes!!!
This is beyond stupid. Math is not a puzzle, and there are no math based puzzles, only math disguised as a puzzle.

WHY is there no way to simply skip those dumb rooms?
I am so far past the trophys and yet the damn game wants me to solve 20 math equasions, ONLY because you might be locking yourself out of the keycard, which is basically the BY FAR the most important item in the game. Without it, even on "low security", you WILL get locked out of 20-30 squares because of those idiotic doors...

Who hurt the devs that they had to resort to using MATH, to block off access to an item that is required for progression with a near 100% chance?

And for anyone who says "BuT tHeRe Is UpGrAdEs!111!!!!", i want to bypass those dumb puzzles BEFORE i beat the game, not AFTER i am done playing it!

WHY are there no mods for this? WHO in the world though that it would be a good idea, to force the player to solve a bunch of EXTREMELY complicated equasions (so complicated that in fact normal math operators were not enough, and they had to make up their own!) before they can start playing???

I seriously don't understand why they make such a good game, only to completely ruin it with math. And i mean COMPLETELY. Right now i hate the game beyond belief for ending my runs, just because i don't want to solve that puzzle anymore, and i am not finding keycards anymore because of that...

I have never seen such bad game design in a game that is otherwise so well thought out. WHO is that one person that just wants to see "the world burn"... i mean "math puzzles"?

Edit:

Also the damn cards keep popping up, so if you skip on those rooms, you are just making it worse, like getting the boiler, and then not putting down the red cards. Either you get rid of them, or they will haunt your drafting forever!

Mate, you do know you don't necessarily need a keycard to bypass security doors, yes?

Have you tried changing the keycard settings to control how many security doors generate in the house? I use it almost every run, either to increase or decrease the number of security doors, depending on what I want. Plus as HappyFaceSpider wrote, you don't need a keycard to bypass them. The keycard is just one option.

If you don't want to do the mathematics puzzle, skip it. It's not compulsory.

Yes, have Security every single run. Coat check and Utility Closet only show up every few runs now, and mostly when you are at a place where you can't use a dead end. Can't even remember when i saw my master key that is in the Coat Check the last time...

I have like 20 things to do, and my last 50 runs accomplished nothing. Literally just had a run with 8 rooms, and then it was over, nothing i could do against it. 4 open ends, and bam, all dead within 4 draws!

The game should either be WAY easier when it comes to positioning, OR not force me to solve math whenever i have to freaking restart!

Have you tried reading? I Explained that even on low, TONS of doors show up, and the terminal is just a lie. I bet the devs are just trolling and the setting does nothing at all...

And its not like i set the setting late. Security is extremely often like my... 5th room or something like that, very often right next to the entrance, so... WAY before the security doors spawn...

Okay, well on Low, the security setting is for 1-2 secured doors in the late ranks of your house. So I don't know how that would block 20-30 squares?

I understand that game difficulty is subjective. Some people enjoy easier games and some people enjoy more difficult games. Plus we all have different levels of skill and experience at solving problems in games.

Maybe the game is just too hard for you to enjoy it. Or maybe you could learn how to get better at drafting. I don't think I've ever had a run end with only 8 rooms. I'm sure you could improve on that if you wanted to.

Learning how to draft the house well is an important part of the game. So if you don't think you should have to do that, then the game may not be for you.

The security setting at high increases the chance a door will be a security door, so by chance you are more likely to encounter them.
If you unlock the security too, build a breaker room and turn off security you don't need the keycard to use the doors, they will be like freebies.

Alternatively, if you get an upgrade disk and get the games room, you can turn it into a break room and every time you call it a day there you will have the keycard in your inventory the next day.
Have you tried adjusting how often each room appears? There is an in-game way to do this. Also, always try to leave 2-3 ways open, to avoid getting stuck. Maybe read the in-game Drafting Strategy Guides, they are actually pretty helpful.

I did have a few runs with 8 rooms or so. But I was just really unlucky. It was more of an issue with drawing a lot of corner rooms (obv. always not the corner I need) and dead-ends, than lack of keycards. Getting stuck after 8 rooms because of a keycard is unusual.

Just started a run, got security room, set to low, now i have 12 rooms and 3 of the doors are security...

Yeah, sure! Why would i be MAD about being locked out of getting the keycard? WHO NEEDS IT?

12 rooms? So like on rank 3?

Or are you building your house straight north?
as a new player you will not be getting to the antechamber without first getting a few permanent upgrades. Take your time, getting to the antechamber is not your goal right now.

Huh I barely play with keycard, I used to check it in but i just found I can get utilities to easy appear early nearly every run and with that and any computer after getting lab upgrade you have access to security if I want it. I usually find just breaking it as the main path forward and haven't really thought about keycard since, I am surprised that you are past the trophies and not doing this since I have yet to get the trophy and I have found the billiard room nearly every run and played it, of the 40 days of run, to be honest the more pain i have is with powerhammer I just built it for the first time and ended up in a debate over checking in the powerhammer for another run or using the upgrade disk I found by getting to a computer, I went with upgrade disk but agonised over that choice since it took me having a study and 30 gems rolling draft to find a workshop while having the items, that was painful choice, still it's all doable nothing is mandated in any run, keycard only really makes a mandatory dead end choice be removed compared to finding a spade or even a metal detector or even any other major key its not gonna really make me feel its a great find.

it helps but by no means is finding a keycard mandatory it just means removing 2 checks of a comp and breaker, and lets face it finding a lab or security is always a nice find so computer is just going to be a normal thing you keep an eye out for. so really only removes one check the breaker, thats not even as good as sneakers can be to a run, or a sleeping mask.
I only got to the billiards room once so far but I found the puzzle rather easy. And that included puzzling out the rules. Once that was done it was trivial to click the right buttons. Does it get harder? Because it didn't involve any math I didn't do in my third year of (~elementary) school (i.e. + - * ). And certainly no invented operators.

EDIT: after playing some more I found a note saying those two indeed get harder.

I like hardcore palour and darts board but 100% agree on the key cards. They need to spawn more. ♥♥♥♥ make them one time use like keys

Maybe 10% of the time I find one in billiards and that's generous. Which is also % of the times I successfully use my security settings to disable the doors but I do it in every run by habit just forget to do circuit breaker

Does every single puzzle in the game need a thread to complain about it?

how did you get 3 locked doors (like keycard or not) with only 12 rooms? did you specifically pick the room that gives you a bunch of keycard doors? it should be nearly impossible to get so many locked doors with only 12 rooms unless you went straight from the bottom to the top without going out to the sides at all

can you post a pic of your manor where that happened?
