Have you tried changing the keycard settings to control how many security doors generate in the house? I use it almost every run, either to increase or decrease the number of security doors, depending on what I want. Plus as HappyFaceSpider wrote, you don't need a keycard to bypass them. The keycard is just one option.
If you don't want to do the mathematics puzzle, skip it. It's not compulsory.
I have like 20 things to do, and my last 50 runs accomplished nothing. Literally just had a run with 8 rooms, and then it was over, nothing i could do against it. 4 open ends, and bam, all dead within 4 draws!
The game should either be WAY easier when it comes to positioning, OR not force me to solve math whenever i have to freaking restart!
Also the damn cards keep popping up, so if you skip on those rooms, you are just making it worse, like getting the boiler, and then not putting down the red cards. Either you get rid of them, or they will haunt your drafting forever!
Have you tried reading? I Explained that even on low, TONS of doors show up, and the terminal is just a lie. I bet the devs are just trolling and the setting does nothing at all...
And its not like i set the setting late. Security is extremely often like my... 5th room or something like that, very often right next to the entrance, so... WAY before the security doors spawn...
I understand that game difficulty is subjective. Some people enjoy easier games and some people enjoy more difficult games. Plus we all have different levels of skill and experience at solving problems in games.
Maybe the game is just too hard for you to enjoy it. Or maybe you could learn how to get better at drafting. I don't think I've ever had a run end with only 8 rooms. I'm sure you could improve on that if you wanted to.
Learning how to draft the house well is an important part of the game. So if you don't think you should have to do that, then the game may not be for you.
The security setting at high increases the chance a door will be a security door, so by chance you are more likely to encounter them.
If you unlock the security too, build a breaker room and turn off security you don't need the keycard to use the doors, they will be like freebies.
Alternatively, if you get an upgrade disk and get the games room, you can turn it into a break room and every time you call it a day there you will have the keycard in your inventory the next day.
I did have a few runs with 8 rooms or so. But I was just really unlucky. It was more of an issue with drawing a lot of corner rooms (obv. always not the corner I need) and dead-ends, than lack of keycards. Getting stuck after 8 rooms because of a keycard is unusual.
Yeah, sure! Why would i be MAD about being locked out of getting the keycard? WHO NEEDS IT?
Or are you building your house straight north?
it helps but by no means is finding a keycard mandatory it just means removing 2 checks of a comp and breaker, and lets face it finding a lab or security is always a nice find so computer is just going to be a normal thing you keep an eye out for. so really only removes one check the breaker, thats not even as good as sneakers can be to a run, or a sleeping mask.
EDIT: after playing some more I found a note saying those two indeed get harder.
Maybe 10% of the time I find one in billiards and that's generous. Which is also % of the times I successfully use my security settings to disable the doors but I do it in every run by habit just forget to do circuit breaker
how did you get 3 locked doors (like keycard or not) with only 12 rooms? did you specifically pick the room that gives you a bunch of keycard doors? it should be nearly impossible to get so many locked doors with only 12 rooms unless you went straight from the bottom to the top without going out to the sides at all
can you post a pic of your manor where that happened?
