Points of interest
Estate’s cliffs and underground ruins
By far one of the most suspicious area, for several reasons.
The cliff side pillars seem to extend lower and further than what we have access to. These don’t seem related to the area we can access through underground on the path to the north door lever, but I might be wrong.
The room with the chess puzzle has a deep hole filled with water. It definitely feels like there’s something down there. Another puzzle with the chess board ?
The room with the Key of Aries has a large portrait (likely the last king of Orindia) at the end that definitely feels like a door. Another puzzle with the clock-like device ?
We never reached the underground castle that we see in one of the rooms accessed through the upper gear. And that place is apparently featured in the cinematic of the Blue Throne, when miners found the chest with the Key of Aries.
Missing footage in Security Room videos
There is a gap in the list of cutscenes we can rewatch in year 1993. On the other hand, there is no video available in 1994, regardless of what you do, including
-Opening room 46
-Getting the blue throne
-Opening the black box
Is this an overlook, a mistake, an upcoming option that wasn’t working for launch ? Nevertheless these scenes cannot be replayed and there is a gap in the list.
Room 46 fireplace symbols
The symbols above the fireplace strike me as quite odd. Why all the realms, including both Orinda and Fenn Aries ? Is the order relevant ?
Sleep Diary
Does calling it a day in the Boudoir, the Bedroom, the Nursery or the Aquarium have any effect ?
Baron Baffler
By having the Treasure Map lead to Bedroom, it reveals a riddle left by Herbert. The result seems to be simply MANTIS, but it’s never used after that. Is there anything more ?
The clue leading to that setting seems to have been the hand statue pointing down. Do the hands in other rooms have a meaning ?
Note: if you dig up a treasure in the Mechanarium, it cracks the ground and removes a gear from the floor, but nothing more. Are there other rooms with specific results ?
-1 Reservoir water level experiment
The very existence of this experiment is odd. Sure, with this you can by pass the need for powered Pump Room to adjust levels, but it can also lead to a complete lock from the safehouse, the boat, and no water in all the house, including Kitchen and Greenhouse. Seems like a bit much, an overlook, or a deeper use ?
Children of Black Water
Confirmed members are Mary (alias Jean Ribbon, among others), Phillip White (alias Paul Withers), Caleb Manning and Randolph Moore. From his testament we can assume Herbert S. Sinclair totally supported this cause, not half-heartedly, and after all he did help them a lot before the robbery. Are there other members we could/should guess ? A letter is signed by Farro in the Closed Exhibit, is it another member or a codename for a known member ?
Foyer
The busts here are of interest. People depicted in such way are generally very important in the family history, generally head of their own family before integrating the current House. Baron Tomas Sinclair and Lord William Epsen positions are known. Baron Edwin Sinclair is likely Tomas’s father. Yenna Je Ari is likely an erajan royalty, since “Yenna” means “Ruler” and “Rain”. Count Isaac Gates history is unknown, but his name is used in the Office safe puzzle. Major Nicolas Key IV is completely unknown, the title major can be related to times of war, but above all, it spells out Major Key IV. And “Major Key” is something that comes up several times in the game.. Can’t help but think there’s something with that.
Tomb’s letter in erajan and Root Cellar genealogy
The translation of that letter was a bit tricky, but it goes pretty much like this:
Oreldajiris,
To my first child,
Ulelddau, uleldnai, uleldmora.
You are my day, you are my night, you are my world.
Orulelgifteldhew oriss. Nevdau uldareile.
To you I gift my house in the south. Tomorrow you'll be without me.
Nevdau eldareilu. Ajelbid ulheed eldlor: Uloddiris.
Tomorrow I'll be without you. First I bid you to heed my word: you are an odd child.
Hewsinclairlu. Hewepsenlu... Forget uldein inn.
Not from House Sinclair. Not from House Epsen... Forget your dream in the north.
Uldjorjeari... Uldarei ovissfennvo. Uldeinjorovo.
Your name is Je Ari... Your future is south away from Fenn. Your dream is away from your father.
Overaja. Ovissnevarei.
Toward Eraja. Toward south and a new future.
Lorja eldiris,
Farewell my child,
Uldjora
Your mother
The words that caused issue, or had to be guessed, are “iris”, supposedly child or daughter, and “odd”, supposedly the english word but nothing is sure.
Neither the author nor the recipient are known. The letter is in the room of Lady Epsen’s grave. What is odd, if this was a letter from Clara Epsen to Mary, the letter tells her to go live in south, and she did, but Lady Epsen died in 1983 and Mary left in 1987, while the letter had a sense of emergency. Was it written shortly before her death, hence the meaning that they will be separated ? We also don’t know when Simon H. Sinclair died, nor how.
Or was it a letter from Clara’s mother to her ? In which case she didn’t follow the advice since she lived in Fenn Aries, not in Eraja.
Nevertheless, from the press articles, we learn that Desilets IV’s grandson, Prince Rolf, had a daughter, Kaitlin, in 1924, the name of the mother is not known except she’s from the Je Ari line, apparently a royal bloodline (see “Foyer”). Mary was born in 1954, 30 years later. Could Clara Epsen be Kaitlin ?
In the Root Cellar, there is actually a missing branch, torn, on the side of the genealogy, to the right of Lady Ashlynn. Possibily a relative. Was Clara actually a child from another branch, and Lionel only a half-brother or a cousin ?
Finally, the tombs of Baron Tomas Sinclair, Lady Auravei, Lord William Epsen and Lady Ashlynn are nowhere to be found. The documents only shine light on Baron Tomas Sinclair, who was directing the excavation project and likely Synka Corp., and Lady Auravei who was a Grand Architect. Nothing is given about Lord William Epsen and Lady Ashlynn.
Lost and Found
Several clues seems to be able to appear randomly in that room:
-Spiral note
-Note with True = 3
-Statue of Mila angel, that would normally be in Maid’s Chamber
Can other things appear in that room ?
Keys
The reference to “major key” occurs several times in the game, with different meanings. We can list the actual keys and their use:
Car Keys: open the car trunk and door
Security Card: open security doors
Silver Key: more chance of multiple-doors rooms
Garden Key: spawn the Secret Garden on the borders (but not on the edges)
Prism Key: draw rooms of the same colour as the current one
Key 8: spawn room 8 if upcoming room is on the 8th row, and open the chest 53 in Vault
Key of Aries: open the chest in Treasure Trove as an outer room
“Major Key” is mentioned in a blue memo (points to safehouse message), in “A New Clue” (play on word in erajan, “small word”) and on a bust (Major Nicolas Key IV).
Are there other uses for some of the keys ? Especially Silver Key, Prism Key, and Key of Aries. It’s strange that the prism key wasn’t used in a puzzle considering its effect and it’s rarity. It’s strange that the Key of Aries remains available after getting the Sceptre.
Attic Portrait
Lady Auravei’s portrait in the Attic shows her wearing the Moon Pendant and the Emerald Bracelet.
When we wield the Sceptre and the Emerald Bracelet, the bracelet is shown on the sceptre. Is their a hidden effect between those 2 or 3 items ?
Clock Tower note
This note is used as a clue as first letters of each lines spell “SACRED”, as a reference to the time needed to open the passage. But the rest of the poem is quite puzzling, with reference to pretty important symbols in the lore (the swan, the rogue moon, the ashes…). Is there another meaning ?
Music sheets
These were used to find a blueprints, but that’s a lot of notes and word for that single find. Especially considering the spirals unsolved meaning, and the music key on Simon P. Jones’ blazon. Is there something else in those sheets ?
Mottos
The Tomb’s letter has “Ovissnevarei” at the end. Herbert’s signs at least one letter with “Ovinn Nevarei”. These 2 erajan expressions are opposite, each meaning “to the north/south, a new future”. Now for the south, it’s Eraja, but why the same expression with north ? It doesn’t seem to point to Arch Aries, that doesn’t seem to have deep implications in the lore. Reddington is north of Oris, but not particularly north of Fenn. And Orinda Aries is obviously north or Eraja, these 2 realms seem to form the most complex history of the continent, so it can be that one is considered the south realm and the other the north realm. In which case, those can be mottos used for historical reasons, and the northern one could refer to the old realm, Orinda Aries, as a reference to Herbert’s S. Sinclair’s position clearly stated in his testament, about the black flag (the royal family being exiled south, it could imply a desire for their return).
Classroom old maps
These are used in a few puzzles, for country informations, but also the clock-like device after the chess puzzle. But considering the amount of drawings and information there, there are deep lore implications and not every of them seem possible to understand currently.
MORAVEN:
The numbers on the “islands”, and the degrees, are not used in a puzzle (the only information used here is TOR = counter-clockwise) ;
There a six hooded people at the bottom near the sun, with strange writing behind them, each holding a chest quite reminiscent of the cursed chest ;
On the top there is a person – seemingly a woman – wearing a blindfold, with an eagle chained to the left hand and a bat chained to the right hand ;
ORINDIA:
There is a circle with Corarica symbol in the center and the other realms around ; possible reference to Corarica being the academic realm and apparently one of the oldest, and creator of the room drafting system ;
The sky map confirms 5 planets (including the one we’re on, Mora), in line with the Planetarium upgrades ;
The orbits map shows the odd system of 2 moons ;
The bottom right picture titles “The Three of Tides” shows 3 isles (Isles of Orrsei, literally Isles of the West Sea) at large on the east of the continent
On the right side is a king, the Orinda Aries symbol, and he seems to have 3 children – two sons and a daughter – so it’s probably the fourth (and last) king of Orindia ;
On the bottom, the phenomenon known as isseclipse and inneclipse are referenced, the isseclipse is next to angel Rynna, while the inneclipse is next to angel Veia ;
On the top, what seems to be a religious, urban civilization to the left seems to meet what seems a more tan and tribal-styled civilization to the right, the fist offering food gifts in exchange for what seems to be books (knowledge ?)
Statues
We cannot open the east path, but we can look through windows, and we can see the wreck of a lifeboat, but also a statue in a circle. That statue is the same as the right one in the Chapel, a hooded figure. As for the left statue of the Chapel, the same can be found in the basement
Boudoir’s safe
The chest in the Boudoir has a peculiar drawing of a leaf and the corner of what seems to be a larger rectangle on the inside of the door. I haven’t found corresponding marks to complete that anywhere.
Bookshop
The books on the Bookshop's table are arranged like a Mora Jai box pattern. The blueprint picture in the directory shows shelved arranged differently right of the entrance, while the actual room makes it feel like that space has been closed off.
Alzara’s prophecies
First visit
-”White sand”: literally, it would be the Safehouse ; figuratively, it would be the word “shores” used a lot by Children of Black Water, so Simon is standing where they stood
-Something he was told he would not find: can refer to both room 46 and answers (and his mother’s whereabouts)
-”Black cat”, “Wind blowing”, and “Red flag that does not stir”: the back cat would be Orinda Aries, now under dominion of the red flag ; “wind” as in “wind of change” perhaps ; unmoving because it seems quite avert to change, considering its tendency to censorship and fanaticism undertone
-”Door marked by a rogue moon”: the door to room 46, but also symbol for hidden locations
-”A lost room beyond the dark waters”: the image is the shore before the Safehouse, was temporarily home to the Children of Black Water
Second visit
-”Darkened cloud of ruin”: a possible future, if Simon doesn’t find room 46
-”Eight red envelopes”: obviously the ones we find in safes
-”Eight pedestals”: symbolism for something being important, I think
-”Eight different hands”: so far, the son of an ex-employee of the excavation site, Caleb Manning, Daniel Jones, Mary, Herbert, Courtney (cousin of Mary), X (the blackmailer)
-”of which you will only find and read seven”: points to the fact that there is one we don’t seem to find, yet, it’s Alzara so the meaning here might be it’s much harder to find or it isn’t something we realize we find and it is not something that is readable (not a letter) ; the seven letters on the image are on room 46 desk, while the sinking pedestal in water is reminiscent of the Reservoir area, or the underground water near the chess puzzle / the springs that end on the cliffs
-”Just like the art hanging on these walls”: reference to Herbert’s global riddle for safes ; interestingly, the image chosen here is Crow / Crown, the crow is referenced in the Clock Tower note, while the crown has a missing ruby even counting the one stolen, that should be with letter 3
-”There is a missing letter”: still unsolved
Third visit
-”A shadow in the doorway”: because the Darkroom always goes dark when first entered, would point to the importance of that room, that has the clue for the Orchard but also the clue to know the green memo in Servant’s Quarter is a lie ; other clues there ?
-”Silent footsteps in the hallways”: we’re obviously alone so, yeah, it probably feels eery ; that being said, the room Hallway might be worth a check
-”An unlatched gate you did not open”: It pictures the east gate, that we cannot open, while it seems there’s a statue on this side of the estate ; however, it’s Alzara, so it could reference another gate, in fact, the gate to the north lever, underground, is open and that always felt odd
-”A missing item you did not take”: the picture shows the entrance, the place where there’s lantern, absent in the picture ; it can be a reference to several things, as I found no interaction with that lantern, it could reference the stolen ruby, it could reference the fact that lanterns are generally needed underground (where we find many secrets), it could be a reference to lanterns in the Atelier
-”watched from afar”: seems to reference the fact that the staff is wondering about Simon’s progress, rooting for him, and ultimately using the Announcement system to post messages ; could also be a reference to the fact that the person that setup most of the puzzles, Simon’s mother, is far, and hopes that he gets to the end of them
-”once brave, but now, afraid”: it is followed by the image of Draxus’ statue in the Tomb, so it’s a reference to going into a scary place, namely the Tomb, and the secrets tied to that statue (an access but also the early drafts of “The Red Prince” and “A New Clue”)
Fourth visit
-”Pattering steps of children” “echoes of laughter in the courtyard”: seems to be a reference to the time Herbert hosted the school and the classrooms, thus indicating the importance of these rooms ; indeed, MANY important clues come from these rooms
-”Old man”: looks like old Simon, possible future if he never finds the truth I guess
-”A seat that has served many generations”: likely points to the importance of some ancestors, the picture shows the Foyer, the side with Yenna Je Ari’s bust, royal lineage being a pretty big secret
-”Own stories”: shows the library, likely a reference to Lady Auravei’s riddle
-”Own secrets”: shows the Drawing Room and the portrait with the bent candle, likely a reference to Herbert’s safes and the red letters
-Own endings”: shows the Tomb and Herbert’s grave, though the likely reference there is probably about the early drafts of Marigold’s book, precisely because she had to change the ending of one ; it’s also the place with the letter in erajan revealing a secret of royal lineage
-”In the same chair”: portrait of Lady Auravei in the Attic, though here, the pendant and the bracelet are uncoloured ; reference unclear, seems unsolved
Fifth visit
-”Faintly in the mist”: fog is big part of Orinda/Fenn Aries, it’s also part of their motto on their stamp
-”A statue cradled in a sentinel of stone”: the picture seems to be General Teskin’s statue, that is found in the Royal Museum ; reference to the importance of said museum in the story ; other statues known to be important are the hooded figures in the underground ruins, in addition to those of the Tomb
-”One day wandering these paths” / “Walking in the footsteps of the past”: probably a metaphor for Simon learning a lot of things in the museum, and particularly about the heist, with a map of the museum
-”Searching for a shadow that will never be cast”: probably referring to Simon’s mother, who is nowhere near Fenn Aries
-”Longing for the day to end”: possible future if Simon tries to search for her in Fenn Aries ?
-”The hours to pass”: possibly referring to the moments we need to reach a precise hour (Clock Tower, Key of Aries)
All the images seem to be of the Royal Museum
Sixth visit
-Image of the station at the Safehouse: a major clue lies there, since there’s the metro map needed to solve a cipher
-Image of six statues around a fire: reference to the statues holding the Mora Jai boxes in the underground ruins ; fire is also a part of Fenn Aries motto ; the infinity symbol is on the clock-like device, and is also a reference to the unfathomable and death (it seems to be the tomb of the last king of Orindia)
-Image of a river and a large bridge: likely a reference to the Curse of the Black Bridge, since the stone effigy is important to reveal the Blue Throne
-”I see cavern walls of stone”: likely a reference to the underground ruins, though the image doesn’t strike me as being a place I know
-”A hollow, lit by a sea of thousand burning stars”: seems to be a reference to the west spring secret, the Atelier, that is indeed a hollow in the mountain side, and is lit with many colored lanterns, like in the picture ; the picture, however, seems to be the gemstones cavern ; the mention of stars also makes one think of the Spiral of Stars
-”A treasure buried beneath the cliff rocks”: directly references the Key of Aries, and shows the place where the elevator to go down is ; it could, however, point to another, not yet found, treasure, further down
-”A black mirror hidden”: the same shape as the place we see the underground castle, that we never actually reach ; it’s also the type of shape and matter we find on the clock-like device in the underground ruins
-”Among the memories of the falling sand”: both possible meanings refer to the past, first the metaphor of the hourglass, second, the references to “shores” in mottos tied to the Orindia / Orinda Aries era
-”Standing in sullen snow”: the last picture is the cursed chest, so it seems to refer to Jasper murdering the man who had that chest, thus snow sullen by blood ; seems to point again to the importance of that effigy, needed for the Blue Throne
-”My young Baron”: interestingly, despite Alzara initially saying we’d never find the door / room 46, he directly calls us Baron here
A thought about who made the puzzles (in lore)
I think that for prospects, it’s important to realize who did what. Any future lead should have some coherence with that.
The room 46, the levers, the safes, the red letters, the global paintings riddle are all from Herbert S. Sinclair. Considering the position of the sanctum doors, we can assume the doors and the keys are from him too.
The sigils lead to his will, and the deed. The will leads to a clue to the sacred hour, and to the early drafts of “The Red Prince” and “A New Clue”.
Regarding Mary, her part is about the chips, the Throne Room blackprint, the Key of Aries, the Sceptre, the Blue Throne, and one blue door. We can assume all clues related to those are from her, including the one in Lady Epsen’s diary.
It’s also very likely that Mary and Herbert worked together on all this, when she was still here, continued for years by Herbert, since some clues kinda cross over each other, specifically, the will points to the diary and the diary points to the antechamber as an outer room, a clue needed for the Blue Throne only.
We can also conclude that all the parts leading to the family core and the Vault are from them, and their involvement stop after the Vault’s safe is opened.
Lady Auravei’s riddle was supposedly never solved before and left to younger generations, though we can’t say for sure that Mary never solved it (it’s odd that there’s a blue door there). Nonetheless, her riddle starts at the cipher, and up to the Blue Testament – and possibly undiscovered parts of the whole thing.
The spirals are the odd case, linked to no one in particular. It’s featured on the oldest riddle – Lady Auravei’s – but also in Clara Epsen’s room, in music room, in the early draft of “A New Clue”, on a schematic in Lost and Found (Randolph Moore, Kimberly Thompson ?) and somehow on Simon P. Jones’ crest.
Thus, when looking for a new lead, the clues should be relevant to the people involved in it. If it’s the red letters, then it’s Herbert. If it’s tied to the Atelier, then it’s Lady Auravei. If it’s tied to the whole Key of Aries and Blue Throne arc, then it should be Mary. If it’s tied to the underground ruins, it could be the old Baron Tomas Sinclair. If it’s tied to the Je Ari line, then both Clara and Mary, and unknown ancestors. For the spirals, everything is open… or rather, it would not be precisely tied to any one person.

Thank you for collecting and presenting all this info. I'd like to share my idea about Yenna Je Ari:
I believe the erajan letter at Clara's tomb is from her to Mary, informing Mary about her royal lineage. Ye Ari is a name passed down in erajan tradition, which we learn from the newspaper in the archive. Eraja never supported the cause of Fenn Aries and granted refuge to the overthrown royalty. I believe Mary's bigger picture is to follow her lineage and become maybe ruler of Eraja, but not without dealing a blow to the Fenn realm by having stolen the crown. I believe the missing bust in Room 46 is not gone, but has been moved to the Foyer under a different name. Je Ari Yenna = Mary. At least the bust looks like her to me. Since Mary stole the crown, wrote WE SEEK WHAT'S IN THE SHADE OF TRUTH on the safehouse wall and is wearing a swan necklace (swansong?), she seems to be in deep with the knowledge about Baroness Auravei and the potential creation of a blue realm.
Also little tidbits:
I think the Baron Baffler is just an easter egg, as it has been mentioned by Herbert and so we get to see one of them.
"There is a letter missing." - The hidden blue memo in the Pantry may refer to a package of coffee in one of the cupboards, misspelling it as coffe. On the counter is another container spelling it correctly.
The Planetarium is rendered in a way that makes it seem like there is a false wall present.
There is a discrepancy between the Directory image for the Book Shop and the room itself. No idea if this is significant, though. The books in the shop are also laid out like a Mora Jai puzzle.
Sure SWNSNG is also an abbreviation of swansong, but the blue memo states that it's an acronym and they don't work by just omitting letters.
I also have an unhealthy fixation on the blueprint that is in the Study safe that has a different arrangement than the blueprint on the table but is clearly the same room. This same room blueprint is also on the desk in Room 46
I also think there's more to the server room, maybe an additional admin key.
Also does anyone know how to open the northern vestibule door on the atelier puzzle?
The total of lamps is 98 and if we add the one to the north could be 99 which could also be 18,
Try to follow a path with only a single lantern color. Red, orange and violet work. The moon on the northern door will glow in that color and behind it will be a dead end only saying: This was not the true path.
I wonder if they would hide anything behind that.
i hope y'all have fun, just don't let it consume ya lmao
To rebound on the points discussed:
The bust has been moved: Interesting theory, plausible. Was Mary into it to the point of being depicted as a queen though ? Also her blazon is called "Marigold", her pen name, not Mary Sinclair or even Mary Jones...
She is aware about Baroness Auravei: I tend to agree, it seems likely
Baron Baffler is an easter egg: I tend to think that too
Missing letter: Wow, great catch ! I guess that alone makes it solved. Edited the list to reflect that.
Spiral of Stars: I know it’s currently under investigation, and probably one of the best bet so far, though widely not understood how it can be used
Planetarium: I can confirm there’s no breakable wall, unfortunately, I also see no possible interaction in the room except maybe the seats
Bookshop: it’s apparently under investigation currently, though I have no idea what to make of it (cf section about consistency in puzzles, I don’t know who to attach to it and why). Added to the points of interest.
The Orchard would be a safe: that’s an interesting theory, it is in fact the last place we use a date. That being said, the standee, that indicates theft, is more likely to be tied to Denny Revane, due to lore elements. Of course you could say an entirely new and unknown 3rd party stole the ruby and the letter, but comparing 2 hypothesis, the second one isn’t backed by any element found so far, while the first has a few consistent elements.
I could suggest an alternate theory though: the Orchard is also the place we reactivate the antenna. Is it possible that the last “letter” is actually an email ? Well, just a thought, I have nothing more to go in that direction.
Dare Mode: yeah I noticed you can above 4 Dares, and as far as I know, the maximum is 8. Eight, again… can’t say that’s not interesting. That being said, I’m not sure I feel capable of facing such an ordeal xD
Admin keys: I can’t be sure there aren’t more keys but I can say that all delisted keys are accounted for: RibbJ, WhitP, LeeB (the ones mentioned in the fake logs are fake keys)
Atelier’s Vestibule door: while we can open it and get a message about being the wrong path, when I mapped the area I noticed that, in theory, there is some space left and right of that tiny dead-end (due to other walls placement)…
Post-post-game section in Curse mode: impossible, the Shrine cannot be used in Curse mode, so the Blessing of the Monk cannot be used, thus the Atelier cannot be reached. If there’s something, it’s not in that section.
Dataminers: datamining is clearly forbidden by the game’s discussion forum rules. All I’ll say is I’ve seen nothing convincing me of what you said.
