It might be possible to use the Moon Pendant to try to keep a couple of Showroom items so you have less to buy the next day. Trading Post might help with that.
Getting The Sail constellation in the Observatory (50% off shops) should help. As far as I know it applies to the Showroom too.
If you're able to spawn a Mail Room and Showroom on one of the days after you ace the exam, you'll get a 200 gold prize. Personally I would save this since there's something in the Gift Shop that costs 400.
You could also try to run the Chapel and fill out the piggy bank as much as possible and then just shatter it when you have 250-300 saved up.
I guess as a last resort, there's always the Casino. There's a better slot machine if you bring the broken lever in.
Wait, what?
And, if you really want to push your gold to the absolute maximum, the gold upgrade to the Bunk Room for doubling your money also applies money earned for the sake of Purse items. So the Bunk Room with Purse functionally triples your current gold when you get it. I've had almost 800 gold at an early part of my day just based on a starting 100ish allowance thanks to that. Buy out the entire showroom and have enough left over for the Blue Tents.
Oh, I don't mind being spoiled on something like that. Just was a surprise
