Stuck - Boiler Room Power?
I think I'm stuck trying to get power to various rooms. I have NEVER successfully got power to any of the rooms that need it. I just never get the option to put the rooms next to each other (and I know about the ducts.)

Right now I seem to just be restarting runs trying to get the Boiler room next to ANYTHING useful. It's quite frustrating. Am I doing something wrong?

Regarding Garage: The garage door needs power to open. You can either use electricity (turn on breaker) and use the garage control (inside garage by the house door).Or you can connect with steam routed from the boiler.

Regarding Boiler: Firstly, you don't need it for the main objective of 46. But you will want it for things beyond that. As said, having the Boiler running and connected to the drafting door increases odds (and shows which are connectable). A full list of connectables is Weight Room, Archive, Dark Room, Security, Passageway, Pump Room and Lab. The last two also interact with having power, as well as Garage, Furnace and Laundry..

General: Have ways to re-roll when trying to connect up the boiler. most of the connectables have branches, but bringing some dice will give you much more control
Played a bunch more times today, am now bored to tears trying to get power to any rooms.

Honestly, it's really saddening that this game devolves into rolling over and over to get access to the next puzzle. :/

Why does power seem to connect to the garage then?
I dont know the answer. Maybe just to show that something is needed to create power. But, as mentioned, there is more sources than just the 1 room.
you can power the garage door by using the utility closet and pressing the buzzer, or by routing power from boiler
I can't power the laboratory, or find any other puzzle to solve. I'm just randomly re-loading the day to try and get the power to the lab :/

You dont need power to open the car trunk/boot.

I'm confused about what you opened by powering the garage with the utility closet

No, I got an upgrade disk by opening the car boot. Regardless of what I do in the utility room, the garage door won't open. I think the garage needs power to open the door.

Once you turn on power to the garage with the ultimatum closet, all you have to do in the garage is push the garage door opener by the entrance to the garage where the keys are hanging.
There is one item that super-buffs the odds of drawing mechanical rooms (of which almost all of them are also steam rooms). When you combine a Battery with a Compass, it creates a magnet thing that instantly draws all keys/coins in the room to you, and buffs mechanical room draft rates a LOT.

This can let you basically brute-force all of the boiler room stuff in one go very easily.

Make sure you have power running through a door when drafting when possible, as that increases the chances of getting another room that needs power or can act as a conduit.

This assumes I've actually drawn the boiler room first though right? I barely ever see the damn thing!

You really will not see it until you adjust its rarity. I often times see it rank 7 and above or off the LIbrary.

Haven't had the option to do this either. It just doesn't come up as an option in that room.

I've seen it there, it does come up. Having Solarium drafted also helps.

I wonder if this is a cultural thing -- there are a lot of places where most people could spend their whole lives without ever seeing a garage door opener. I grew up with one so as soon as I saw the button the on wall, the first thing out of my mouth was "oh ♥♥♥♥, I wonder if you can open the garage door?" and seeing the breaker for the garage in Utility confirmed my suspicion. I think I had it open before day 5.

For me the obvious thing to open the garage door was the metal box attached to the garage door XD

The other button looks like some sort of intercom, and is way over by the door.

Ah! Wait! The weird button on the opposite side of the room from the door that looks like an intercom opens the door, not the OBVIOUS mechanism right next to the door that is connected to it, looks like a door motor, and is clearly powered down. Great, thanks game!

That's got me a new special room every run at least!

However, I'm still stuck on trying to progress the main game. Am I supposed to be just resetting until I get power to the Lab?
It's probably that there are just 2 ways to open the garage door. With the utility closet or with a connected power room.

Another idea for helping with boiler room. You can choose the tool shed or trade post for the outer room in the west yard, and hope to get the gear wrench, which lets you alter the rarity of gear/mechanical rooms, which the boiler room is one of. Though, you still have to draw it to begin with.

Just a quick hint that helped me a bit with the annoying boiler room connections:

Once you have the Boiler Room activated, if you draft a room going out of it you'll notice some of the room choices are highlighted with a bright blue border. Those are the rooms that actually have power conduits along the ceiling that can continue the connection. (It took me a few runs to notice this, once I did it helped me get the Boiler Room connection I was looking for in about three or four more attempts or so. It still took a bit of luck but at least I wasn't accidentally creating power dead ends as I went.)

That's a garage door opener, you ain't seen one before?

This is the point I was making, I bet a lot of people have never used a garage door opener.

As for why it's near the doorway into the house - you want to be able to open or close the door without leaving the home interior and stepping onto the concrete garage floor, or close it behind yourself after you park, as you walk into the house.
