It's still very difficult to connect boler room to the lab even with the vents. Hell, i had struggles even using electric aquariums as a backup. The op annoyence is justified.
OP, it will get worse. Much, much, MUCH worse.
Nope this is piss easy, I did it on day 5. I can prove it. You draft boiler first and turn on the power. The rooms you draft from the powered door, are more likely to synergize and link up.
Boiler to Pump room is much harder IMO. I'm currently doing this in my save.
If you drafted all the rooms with vents prior to the boiler, you're screwed.
Laundry is great, the heck? It literally saved one of my runs.
Once you power it, right?
plenty of rooms have ducts on the ceiling, connecting power to adjacent rooms.
drafting from a powered room increases your chances of drawing a room that can use power.
I didn't think about this!
At this point, it's a wonder how this game has managed to filter so many people.
Anyway, Draft a Pool so that Pump can show up.
(Optionally Draft either a Study or a 50+ Star Observatory for lots of re-rolls)
Draft a Boiler Room.
Power up a line that connects to an exit from that boiler room that leads to a series of empty squares in your Estate.
Draft on that powered line and only pick rooms that carry the power (the UI will indicate this to you) until you get the Pump Room. You can reroll this with aforementioned rerolls.
If you have Castle or Scepter, you can use either to push more Blue Rooms into play over other options.
If you have Conservatory, you can lower the rarity of other rooms (such as Study), but it picks a random 3 rooms every time, so I don't suggest relying on this route.
The game doesn't allow infinite axe uses or total control over the conservatory for many of the same problems you have here--those would become massive gates towards rendering the game far easier and then you'd have people complaining that they never, in 160 days, got the Axe or the Conservatory.
Anyway, hope that helps, and if it doesn't, well, I hope that you get lucky. You're not a moron, the game can just be impenetrable at times and relying solely on RNG is a path that ends in frustration. Keep at it, or don't, but godspeed either way.
