So is beating the game on Day 1 actually possible?
I've literally only seen evidence of one person doing it and it was only possible because of a glitch that makes late game rooms appear in the floorplans from Day 1. A glitch that the person in question who got it says has since been patched.

I tried grinding for this challenge for about 20 attempts and in those attempts I did not draw Pool (required to draw Pump room) or Foundation a single time, even on attempts I was able to get all the way to rank 9. And I'm pretty sure at least one of these rooms is required to be drafted at least once per save in order to reach the North lever for the Antechamber. So I don't know for sure if they're just less likely to appear on Day 1 or straight up impossible but given my results so far I'm leaning towards the latter.

I'm starting to think the developer added this achievement INTENDING for it to be impossible because, like I said, I can't theorise how else it would possible without drafting one of those 2 rooms and the only instance I've seen (with proof) of someone who was able to do so on Day 1 (the Pool -> Pump room) is now impossible because the developer patched it out immediately after.

But if anyone has a theory of their own of how to do it or has successfully pulled it off then by all means tell/show me how. Just know that if your response is something like "yeah I did it by just miraculously drawing one of those rooms on Day 1 but I don't have proof, sorry" then I'll be less inclined to believe you.

If you aren't going to believe that it's possible to draw the pool or foundation on day one post-patch (I don't believe either of them are "late game" rooms), what would constitute proof? You could always claim it was a pre-patch run.

It's just a matter of luck. Is it a likely run? No. But it is fully possible. Curse runs are possible (Starting a save file with a permanent curse condition) and in those, you find it almost impossible to generate any meta progression other than stars, while suffering a huge drain to your keys, steps, and gems from the curse effect (Not even counting the fact you start with only 13 steps in curse mode, making basically every step a valuable and cherished resource).

Actually, I think something is still wrong with profiles, since I just pulled a solarium when testing a day 1 run just now when picking a green room from the secret room. It doesn't make sense for that to be available on the new profile.

Pretty sure that is unlocked from the beginning, it's just a fairly rare room. I've seen one on like day 3-4 of my Curse run that I'm working on. You can draw max rarity rooms even from the first draw, it's just very unlikely until you've thinned out the draws a bit.

It's not, it's an addition from the Drafting Studio.

Yep. I had just unlocked it earlier in the day on another profile. Now I could see curse/dare modes being different, but a new profile on normal mode should be completely clean IMO.

i don't know what "late game" means in this context. i think the foundation can only be drafted at/after certain ranks, but it should be in the pool from day 1. same with pool. getting neither in 20 attempts doesn't mean they aren't there, it means you aren't getting good RNG.

someone drew their foundation at the middle slot rank 2, so connected to the hallway enterance.

that seems like a terrible place for it, but i guess that means it's not rank-locked. OP just getting bad RNG confirmed.

Yes, I had regrets. :) C7 was a much better place for it in my next profile.

The Foundation is not required to beat the game.

Also, its a trophy to beat it on day 1. So, of course it's possible. Devs aren't adding trophies you can't get.

There are also entire threads on this subject that go into way more detail on what rooms you want to succeed.

Edit: Here is an example.
Broken Lever and Foundation NOT required: Pool room, Pump room, Utility Closet, Garage, Tomb, Great Hall OR Secret Garden.

- You can use library to improve rare room chances, like Pool.
- Dart puzzle (uncommon) or Locksmith (common) supply Secret Garden key.
- Great Hall is very common. Just requires keys or high luck with getting Foyer first.
- Tomb is easier to get if you have 1 or 2 rerolls for outer room. But, it's not a large pool of rooms that can spawn there to begin with.

Tomb requires at least 1 reroll, 2 likely guarantees you can get it. The first 3 choices seem fixed, so you need to reroll at least once.

On a similar note: The very first draft is always between Hallway, Bedroom, and Closet. The bedroom specifically always contains a locked trunk. Both the trunk and Closet can contain dice, so it might be easiest to do quick resets until you get one.

After wiping all my profiles and deleting saved config files, I just pulled the pool on day 1 after a redraw from the drafting room.

Mine is close to that. It's in C3... I didn't know what I had done at the time but, it has helped oddly more than I expected. I wish there was a way to move it at this phase though haha
