I mean, it does have a few other minor uses (tells you what the layout of the Great Hall is on that given day) but I'd prefer to just draft a Foyer instead. After all, in the choice between knowing the layout of the hall, or just being able to open all the doors outright, I'd just prefer to open the doors outright.
It ends up being one of the least useful rooms after you get all the extra rooms you want out of it.
You can also use the drafting room to determine the exact day, but you can also do that by knowing the start date and what day you're on and mathing.
It is a straight hallway
It has the current date
It can contain a special item (probably from the general pool).
It has the current Great Hall layout
It has a pawn
It is a "Drafting" tagged room for related synergies.
2 Gems is expensive so more often than not, probably not worth it.
