Chess Special Rules (puzzle spoilers)
Should "castling" the chess pieces for the chess puzzle do anything special?

I just did it and saw no effect, but it was a queenside castle. I want to know if its worth spending the resources I did to try a kingside castle next run?

Minor Spoiler below, not entire puzzle answer. Just how to get started on it.
So the "Castling" puzzle has to do with looking for notes and documents that somehow have a cipher that's formatted the same way. For example letters arranged vertically with blanks or gaps. For example one of the notes found in the locker room.

But to do a "Castle" move in the game, you don't do it like you would in an actual Chess game, you Castle by just picking the Chess Power-Ups via completing the Chessboard puzzle like normal. (Rook then King or King then Rook.) So you need to complete the normal chess puzzle at least twice. It's basically moon Logic so I don't really mind spoiling that for you. The puzzle leads to more puzzles btw and if you need help with the Ciphers you can always google.

Thanks, I had found some elements related to your first spoiler but thought it might be a multi-purpose clue like some others so that is also on my radar.

The second spoiler, yeah I don't think I'd ever make that leap. I wonder if there is ANYTHING that points to that logic anyone has found?

Some of the puzzles are just moon logic sadly. I only resort to google if I get stumped and have no idea how to continue. A lot of the puzzles are well designed though and just require a little detective work. The classrooms for example have a lot of knowledge you should be paying attention to for multiple puzzles.

Far as the Castling puzzle goes, unless there's a letter delivered to the mailroom explaining the situation that I haven't encountered, it's just moon logic. (The letters delivered to the mailroom though basically feel like googling as they fully explain puzzles which isn't super fun)
I think there was a note I found at some point that was like “castling is switching a rook and a king” or something to that effect. That’s probably the closest to a tip-off to that solution that I’ve seen.

Of the castling tips, I only remember replacing the king from the new clue draft with the rook in the published version of new clue

Well that's a relief, cause I noticed all those letters were on the grid and we have 6 pieces so I spent a good half-dozen days trying to spell out the word "CASTLE" with my pieces. Glad to know that is NOT it bc I can never draw the Office where I need it.

I found a reference to these but not the actual books. I may count that and I'll pay closer attention to that when I find them.

I only have 12 letters in the mailroom and judging by the remaining space there may be ~4 more so I'll try to check them as well.

I'm not sure who asked now, but if anyone is looking you can freely swap to another piece after completing the puzzle without loosing the secret unlocked.

Just to help, choosing ambition of the pawn then promoting to rook in the run before choosing king power did not trigger the castle, you have to make two different runs..

There is a blue memo in one of the treasure trove chests, that reads: ‘The power must shift to perform the ritual of castling’. That is the best clue I am aware of.

The blue tents memo in the office is pretty decent too. It says something along the line of "The king can castle by swapping with another piece." As the chessboard doesnt allow for pieces to swapp places, that has potewntial to make people look for other solutions.

To be honest the thing after castling is much-much worse.
ChickenStrip 10. maj kl. 20:25
The entire thing sucks. The clue itself being so bad leads to people like OP attempting something that makes way more sense than the existing solution.

I think the Riddle part is one of the best puzzles in the game. But what that does, yeah, the sequence of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is just too much.

Blue Memos are more of a later Layer of the game, IMO, so that it informs something "earlier" it kind of speaks to same bad planning or overall unintentional structure by the devs.

Or you can see it as a failsafe, if they still havent picked up on something they get an additional clue. This game is hardly linear
