Agreed, this is the one thing so far I don't think I ever would have figured out in a million years. I got the first one because it's pretty much just a basic pictogram, but the rest... good lord.
Though I *do* recall seeing one of the paintings named somewhere on a note or something. Might have been the exam?
Same, I'm usually pretty good with word puzzles but these needed an insane level of reading into it. I only got 2, and the 2nd I only got because I kinda lucked out on thinking P-ON-wtf-is-that-last 3 letters, and just spammed different combinations.
As per everyone else here, I'd say give it a good 10 minute think if you want, and then just look up the answer.
They're all kind of technically words formed from other words (or homophones of other words). They also all share a theme, if that helps.
