There are cutscenes but you 'buy' them, so they are optional. I think they are interesting and they give clues to some of the puzzles.
Due to the game just being released, I would not be expecting a discounted price soon, but who knows.
I mean most games go on sale eventually, I doubt it will be any time soon for this. But it's not a live service game or something where you'll miss things by not being early.
Like it's a good puzzle game with resource management and such, and it's fun. But unless you absolutely can't wait to have the experience, I would say there's no harm on sitting on it and waiting to see if there's a sale (prob more than just a few months tho, if you can handle that) if you're tight on cash. I wouldn't classify it as a "you need to play this now or your life will never be the same" kinda game.
Without spoiling anything :
There are a rare few items you can find in the game that make everything free for the next minute or so.
There is an optional puzzle that has a solution requiring you to hit a switch and then quickly navigate to another room.
Both of these are massively minor in the scope of the entire game. I think I've encountered the first about three times across 75 hours of play. The second is fairly lenient with its timing but, again, is entirely optional.
That's like calling Skyrim a walking sim because that's your primary mode of travel.
Nonsense.
Drafting Rooms
Solving Puzzles within those rooms
Managing currencies
Collecting equipment
Managing exhaustion
Then, yes, divorced of the gameplay systems you are constantly engaged with, which you need to express some level of mastery over in order to progress through the game, sure, it's a walking sim.
