An actual good use of the magnifying glass?

Obviously, it does zoom in on documents, yeah, but is there a real moment where you NEED the magnifying glass to reveal something, or something similar? I always just trade it or whatever.

There are a handful of things that are (as far as I know) completely illegible if you don't have it.

Yes, it's unironically one of the most important items in the game

There is several sections of truly invisible ink that only shows under the glass, and others where the text is so small as to be only a 2 pixels high blob without it. It's quite a valuable item in the early game, and even late game you'll see several spots use it.

There is one specific late game point you need it where you'll curse not having it.


Do you NEED it? Most of the time no. The game tends to have multiple hints towards the same puzzle solution in several places, but some very explicitly are you need this specific item or bust.

It's also needed for one item combination at the workshop that is only replaceable with a specific fairly late game conditional shop.
