[Spoilers] Is it normal to beat the game the first time you get to the antichamber?
That's what we are told is the goal but also to get to room 46 and eventually you find many massive puzzles that I didn't do most of [\spoiler]

Well thanks to pulling crypt once and moving the cart the path was clear to me after some mild puzzling and then the inner sanctum was before me and I had my notebook and pages of data dutifully in front of me but I needed none of it as I pulled a lever and opened the door to 46 and just retraced my steps and game over

I know there's a lot of rooms and puzzles I missed lol

Oh and this was day 18 and as many hours in the game but I guess I'm a speed runner now
You just got the tutorial done basically, good luck :)

The tutorial that shows me my story and takes all my steps and money and items away?
Get to room 46 again. You will find your next challenge waiting.
Also the house will have some more rooms and information for you now.
You are a loooooong way off beating the game the first time you get to 46 :)
Reaching the Antechamber and getting into Room 46 for the first time is basically like when you win your first Mom fight in Binding of Isaac. Very blatently NOT the end of the game, but the end of that run. And just like said first Mom fight in Binding of Isaac, you can skip/bypass it and do later game content.

In future runs, getting into it early in the day is actively rewarded with a fairly powerful item that helps you control your drafts more.

I got an ending yes?

That's beating the game.

You all act like you're the only ones who ever played Stanley Parable.

It was just anticlimactic and I am sure I'll play more but I don't feel as if I gained anything other than 1 blueprint which, yes, I get it is crucial

But it's my understanding even the door I unlocked will be locked again. There's a minor shortcut I guess I did get
Day 18 is not a speed run, you can get to room 46 on day 1 (which is insanely hard) or day 2 (which isn't nearly as hard).

There are some VERY involved puzzle that only start once you reach room 46.
Everything before that is simple in comparison...
Some of the hints for those don't show up until you get 8 trophies and buy the blue tent.

There is also Dare and Cursed mode, but those are more annoying than fun for me.

Click on the black parts to unmask the spoiler and you'll see there's a bit more to it than reaching day 18

The path I'm talking about could happen on day 2 with luck

Are you saying that's not speed running?

Beat is relative and in this case, no you have not beaten the game.

But congrats on 46! You've completed maybe 2-3% of the content so far.

We are just tunneling into the visual cortex tonight

Relative to the previous 17 days I voluntarily ended them or took my last step into a door

This time I did not

You know my question (as it's in the title) and you know I'm asking why there's not more in the way

I guess this technically could be done on day 1 lol

If you are simply looking for an answer to "Is it normal to get to 46 the first time I get to the Antechamber," the answer is no - it's not usually normal, but it's also not very difficult. It relies on a small handful of RNG. You had the RNG required, so you beat it. But getting to 46 is very easy, not really something you'll be doing very often and isn't meant to be a major roadblock. It is the tutorial that sets the estate up for you.

Fair enough. The only comparable game I had as a kid was Shadowgate and it didn't work this way

Same with kings quest or myst at someone's house with a PC. Those seemed on very set paths so excuse I

I don't want to post spoilers but I'm 40hrs in and hit the credits about maybe 12 hours and still have multiple things left to pursue (and others I don't know about yet I suspect).

It's not like other games where you can find different endings per se, it's that finding room 46 really is the beginning of the "proper game" in terms of layers of puzzles.

Thank you for replying without arguing semantics over what constitutes completing a run without dying

There's literally nothing more perfect of a round I could have played on turn 1 or 2 but who knows how likely that is with low power Simon even if constantly resetting if you fail to pull crypt
