Is there a prerequisite to getting the foundation?

I have yet to see the Foundation despite getting the basement key six times. I seem to be stuck after accessing the basement from the fountain; as there is nothing to do down there. I have basically no idea how to progress except for entering the basement from another angle, which means The Foundation. So I keep doing runs solely trying to draw it but...it never comes. Is it just bad RNG?

I had C2 in my first profile, and didn't like it. It's not at all difficult to manage paths early on, and it doesn't give you the benefit of bypassing ranks like it does when it's at something like C7 (which is where mine is now).

back wall blocked by antechamber? you mean for the elevator? huh. I had my back wall facing left. So for me it would be more awkward to have it at d9. C8 would be an awesome spot for me.

And honestly, I'd probably remove the 6th row from the possibility pool. So that would be B8 (confirmed in my save file as it has my foundation), D8 (just very likely mirror spot to B8)
B7, and D7. Maybe C7.

Mine is at C4. (I'm not trying to blow up the house! I promise. I dont know how that dynamite got to the tradeing post.)

My foundation is on C7 lucked out getting it there when I didn't understand what it was, imo best placement I think its as far up on the house since it needs access to the back (facing north) and its centred in the house.

If you get the billiards room upgrade that lets you start with a keycard then you really want The Foundation as deep into the house as possible.
It is possible to get to room 46 with only drafting 6 rooms that way lol.

You can't place The Foundation touching antechamber, but 1 spot off to the side isn't too bad.

I suggest check one thing first that might help you trigger the Foundation card to appear.
(I use word card, as as floor plan feels quite long, and card feels easier to use )

1: Make sure you have found Security as there is cut-scene that might trigger the foundation to be added into draft pool. But that is just a theory.

As I am pretty sure it might be very important, and since you need to find Security anyways early as possible to be able access Electricity Door with turning them off and finding electricity box to turn power off from security doors. To allow you go deeper into Mansion, unless you have key-card of course. But I think they made it intentionally this way.

I guess there's another entrance to the Basement that I am missing, because I found the Tomb One, Fountain One, and the one you get after lighting all four braisers and none of them allowed me to progress due to the cog bridge "puzzle" being on the wrong side. From where I was standing I couldn't beat the game without the Foundation

There are more than one in the tomb but that's irrelevant. you can go across the water on the boat with the proper setup, without the foundation.

For those saying "it took me X days to find the foundation" it's a bit arbitrary without knowing your runs or layouts. How many of those were dud days with bad draws or resource starvation? How many of those ended midway with wonky layouts?

As far as prerequisites go, successful 1 day runs have a few prevailing strats and spawned the foundation on day 1, so it's hard to separate those specific rooms (garage/security/utility are very common on those runs) from being a requirement.

That said with a limited draft pool and perfect layout where you have valid foundation placements, it would simply be an exercise of exhausting the pool until you get it assuming it's a "valid placement" position.

I don't think there are any other restriction.

My first run I got it on the first day, and lot of 1day trophy winners did too.
I've literally had it as the 2nd room placed one run.
Just use up the common stuff so it doesn't keep showing up over and over so you can see more other room choices.

whereabouts in the foundation is the memo? mine is on B8 i've been searching for a while and can't find it

it is on a sloped face of a rock facing upwards, I think sort of under a plank you walk across.
If you circle around the center looking out at the elevated places the doors are on you should see it.

I've been doing Day 1 runs, and I get The Foundation maybe 20% of the time as a choice. I believe the only restriction is that it has to be in the middle 3 columns.

It can't be in 1st or 9th rank either, and it can not be in C8.
(My dreams of a win with 0 rooms drafted in the estate have been crushed.)

I mean.. My foundation is in D6 So idk. And what I have shown. It can be also found in D4 or at least in Trump's one video I show his Foundation on D4. So it can be found very early on. But I guess it also comes down into luck.
