Update Deleted/Corrupted Save

So my girlfriend and I have been playing for the last couple evenings, all on the same profile and never starting a new game. We had had no problems whatsoever playing before the update, but upon opening the game today we were only giving the option to start a New Game, no Continue button present.
Digging through files some I found what I believe is out original save data (unedited since last night), but the game seems to be unable to read it for some reason? To reiterate, this is *not* the known New Game save glitch, we had never started another save. Has anyone else experienced this or have solutions?
