Using "still water" (consider this whole thing spoilers)

so I've already used the watering can to pour the still water on the blank books in the library, but one of the messages on one of those books implies that the still water can be used in other places, I don't have any clue where to start with that but what I'd REALLY like to know is if putting the watering can in the coat check maintains the "still water" between days, I literally have no way to confirm this and its super annoying to have to go to the trading post every single time
