for example, in the ace attorney series the main character's name is Naruhodo, which is a pun for 'i see' so everyone can say 'naruhodo, Naruhodo', so in english his name is Phoenix Wright so everyone can say 'isn't that right, Wright?'
the question is not if it can be done at all but rather if they have the time/money/plan to do so. i can't say what their plans are for localization, but don't count out the possibility just because there's puns
It would be way cheaper for you to learn English, on top of being beneficial to you for easier access to most of nowadays knowledge.
It's a lot more than just puns. The most obvious example is a major puzzle fairly early on, which uses a specific phrase as a clue for several different puzzles. This relies on the phrase being interpreted in multiple different ways, with multiple different interpretations of different words. It is ALSO essential that the message be the exact length that it is - any translation would not just need to include all of the various levels of wordplay, but would need to be the same number of total characters in length as the English version.
This puzzle cannot be translated, at all. Any translation of the game would require it to be torn out and replaced entirely, which would be a huge overhaul. And that's just one puzzle.
