Yeah the attic that is already in the game is rather small but 8 items for a dead end is amazing!
I think it's off no surprise we can keep going afterwards, the demo is marked as four days to get your feet wet. But stars doesn't necessarily correlate with days. I have a save with I think 18 stars? The lab has a research that gives stars and even more so there's a way to exachange resources for stars
but yeah, it goes further then that and getting more then that in 4 days is crazy
As shown in the intro video the antechamber is not the end goal and it's probably just chapter 1. If you've been outside and looked over the edge from the viewing platform you can see archways or windows way down in the side of the mountain, so I would not be surprised if we will go down deeper into the mountain or even to other locations (just a guess based on what the Alzara videos have shown so far).
I also think/hope we'll see more roguelite elements in the full game, 4 days is barely enough to get a taste and unlock a few of the permanent perks and items etc. As one example lets just say the book in the Observatory does not show the full list of constellations, if you find the Planetarium room there's a more complete list that goes all the way up to 50. Like TimboJones says there are ways of increasing stars faster but even if you get lucky to do those tricks it'll take some time to reach that number...
I think the player character is already a key part in the story, being the grandnephew who gets the estate if he can find room 46 (as shown in the intro video). Replacing it with a cop or architect would be strange, though I think if you reach certain parts or ending(s?) they could make it so you'll get starting perks on new runs. Happens often in roguelites.
