Can't finish the game

Me and my friend have been on the boat scene now for over 1 hour trying to complete this and after i escape getting spiked by the axe, press to jump off, the game makes the splash noise, boat engine still running and textures still moving (water in background etc) and basically it stays like that constantly. Rather Pissed off here as the entire game isd buggy asf, zoom issues, audio issues, lag, laggy scenes, forced to skip stuff and to top it all off, can't even complete the game. A total of 10 tries on this boat, tried everything, nothing works. verified intergrity of files, tried different options and not a thing works. How is it possible to release a game in which is so buggy, its incompletable....when is this going to get fixed? unbelievably disppointing and a waste of money..

We released an update on August 23rd to address an issue with the Mark QTE in the Lake chapter. Other fixes were applied to this chapter in previous game updates.

To clarify, is the issue that you are experiencing at the moment a black screen? When did you first start your current save game, and did you already attempt reloading to a previous chapter and also testing a completely new save game in case of save-specific corruption?

Still broken as of November 21, 2023. Has something to do with the pepper spray. Easiest solution is to go back and don't pick it up. https://clips.twitch.tv/GentleAthleticEelDendiFace-5ZrVmJkEINuQX_gj If you pick up the pepper spray, there's an option for Kate to either jump off the boat or fight Du'Met. If you fight him, he grabs her wrist and knocks her down. Then if you kill Du'Met, as the boat approaches the rock formation, Kate is not on the boat. The QTE for Mark to jump doesn't work, and the game freezes.

still broken as of 27/11/23 too. we went back and made different choices: didn’t go for the pepper spray, got Kate to jump, and then it no longer froze. annoying but at least we were able to finish it.

I was just playing this today in coop on Xbox Series/ XB1 and I had this bug, game completely froze if you chose to pick up the pepper stray and attack the killer as Kate. Works when ignoring the gun and then jumping off the boat with both characters for me. No idea how this bug is still here 1 year after release, we were about to give up on the game before finding this forum post.

2024 and this issue still exists. I was playing shared story with a friend and during the boat fight I was getting stuck in a never ending loading screen. We both restarted our games and tried to redo this section but it didn't help. Eventually we did what is suggested here in the comments; didn't pick up the pepper spray and got Kate to jump. Thank you for the comments suggesting to do that, we were able to complete the game at least. Very disappointed that we were not able to do the choices we actually wanted to make due to a bug from 2022 that has gone unfixed and still hinders people to this day.

Had the same issue, shared story and got a black screen for one person and frozen at the end for the other.
Not picking up the pepper spray and Kate jumping early worked for us also. <3

It's enough not to pick up the gas spray, Kate doesn't have to jump! If Mark has another tool (drill bit with the tripod) and he uses that, it's enough for the game not to crash :)

annoying that this bug is still in the game (we played on PS5)

Played these days the boat scene, in DX12. I didn't have a crash but the game get from 60fps to 5-8fps, no matter how many times I tried to restart the game, my OS (W11)... that part is sooooo laggy. It's difficult to complete it.

Definitely this game needs more updates, it really looks like it was finished asap without so much test in the way.

Btw, I was playing in a Nvidia GTX1060

Hello, I'm currently playing this on Playstation with a friend and this is happening to us. My friend gets the black screen after attacking the killer with Kate, then I get to play a couple seconds more, but after pressing jump with Mark, it gets frozen.

1/19/25. Black screen is still happening during the boat scene. Playing co-op. We didn't pick up the gun or the spray from the cop.

Edit: we were able to progress by sacrificing a person.

For 07.02.25 the bug still hasn't been fixed and won't be. The developers don't give a ♥♥♥♥.
Helped not to pick up pepper spray, the other choices do not affect.
