How accurate to the story of H.H Holmes is this?

H.H Holmes is one of the worst and most horrific serial killers, so if they chose him they should not have deviated from truth much. In terms of horror stories, H.H Holmes is as outlandish and diverse as it gets. So, if they felt the need to embellish...then the reviews are definitely accurate and i have no interest.

according to wikipedia hh holmes was not even a proper serial killer, he just killed those that interfered with his business.
99.99% of the stories were completely made up by the media of the time for sales.

So the game isn't even about H.H. Holmes. It's set in modern day. H.H. Holmes is referenced for a large part of it and it's obviously based on him but literally he's in the game for the pre-credits sequence.

H.H. Holmes is more of an immortal Jason Vorhees in the game, so don't take it like you'll learn much from it.

It is accurate (about 85%) to the newspaper articles of the time of the Holmes murders. Those are now known to be entirely false, but they manged to work in nearly all of those flasehoods into the game.
It's a collection of true lies.

However, they do a good job of moving away from the true Holmes story [actually really boring and no elaborate traps, etc.,] and focus on another slasher killer in that same (fictional) "murder hotel" environment.
