Incinerator Room Bug [SPOILERS]
Playing Co-Op before solo with a friend, we're at the incinerator room where Charlie could die, problem is he always does because there isn'ta QTE prompting me to try the vents or go for the door as I've seen others say and even saw it in a video. It just completely skips the QTE and neither my friend nor I did things different than the video guide after getting Charlie's deaths with our trials and errors.

Anyone else got this bug as well?

Me and my co-op partner had this happen too but we thought it was something we couldn't avoid lol. Also, when Charlie falls into the jail cell/cage, just beforehand, I wasn't able to look around (had this happen a few times - moving my mouse literally does nothing) so was stuck in that room, as I couldn't turn my mouse and look to the key hanging on the wall, in order to interact with it. Once my co-op partner progressed their section, it just teleported Charlie to the incineration room cutscene.

Isnt the lever Mark can pull what saves him?

Didn't seem to work at all, my co op partner tried everything on their side because Mark always pulls the trigger it seems, still Charlie dies all the time. It'd be weird anyways if there was 0 options playing as Charlie there to try to save yourself, similar to how Jamie can tell Erin to hide in the closet where you have the other option to run towards the door.
There's a whole choice section missing for me.

Here's a video (timestamped it, if its not working @ 3:01:30)

As of current patch, this is just how the game is. If you play the game Co-op, it is sadly impossible to save Charlie. My friend and I are waiting until a bugfix comes out to continue, which is really, really dumb.

Same in co-op. No promps or anything. Dude just died in the fire, couldn't do anything to help him. My partner didn't see any choices. Want to note that I was playing on direct x 12 while my partner was playing on DX11.

To anyone still having this issue: One player has to solve the wine puzzle before Charlie enters the incinerator himself. That player that solves the wine puzzle has to hold the lever down the ENTIRE TIME and not let go of R2/RT. Even into the following cutscene. Charlie has to force the grate twice and Mark will be pulled to safety, saving both of them.

I'm gonna replay the game and try that. Thanks

Hey everyone,

Thank you for reporting this issue in the "Incinerator" chapter, and I'm very sorry to hear that saving Charlie is proving difficult.

Would it be possible for any of you to provide a video showing that the choices for pulling the grate or trying to open the door are skipped entirely, ultimately resulting in Charlie's death?

We'd really appreciate it.

My issue is a bit different. My friend is the lobby host if that makes any difference and she was able to get Charlie into the grate, I was too in the first playthrough where i was playing him, but the other player sees him die and gets different dialog when they're all talking after. Right now, Charlie is dead in my game and not in my friend's.

Hello again everyone - I'm hoping all of you may be able to answer a question for me pertaining to your experiences of this issue.

Can you let me know whether, in your playthroughs where you could not pick any options as Charlie, your partner player solved the wine puzzle and had access to the lever as Mark?

If your partner did have access to the lever and was holding it, but you still could not choose to try the grate or the door as Charlie, can you please let me know? Thank you!

This sounds like an issue with desync that the team are looking into - it isn't related to the issue mentioned in the other posts in this thread, so would be better posted separately to discuss in-depth if need be 😊

The first few times my partner was able to solve the wine puzzle, but as soon as that happened a cutscene triggered where Charlie went into the incinerator without having me (as Charlie) switching his own lever to unlock the door to open the way to it (where the lights suddenly turn off for a moment) - here my partner was able to pull the lever with Jamie. And there were times we tried my partner just standing, not solving the wine puzzle but me (as Charlie) exploring fully and going into the incinerator to pick up the lighter, at that moment my partner got a cutscene of the characters going down stairs and watch Charlie on the monitor - here the lever box was blocked off for Mark, partner still playing as Jamie.

The first part sounds like the intended behaviour, as when Jamie, Mark and Kate go into the observation room Charlie is meant to be in the incinerator. So if you weren't already in there, you'd be forced in by the prompt from your partner.

The second behaviour is definitely the intended behaviour, as after checking with the devs, it was confirmed that if you do not solve the wine puzzle before Charlie's scene in the incinerator begins, then Mark cannot use the lever to save Charlie as it remains locked, covered by a guard box. This would be why you cannot choose any option as Charlie in this scenario, as he only gets the options to save himself if Mark is holding the lever to reduce the flames and give him time to come up with a plan (ie. door or grate).

It's as Linkite kindly wrote above:

Having said all this, does this clear up any potential misunderstandings about this sequence for anyone in this thread? In your playthroughs, have you been failing to solve the puzzle and thus not pulling the lever?

Alternatively, I do know of reports whereby the lever is being held by Mark but that isn't detected, so the flames don't die down. If this is what you're experiencing, let me know this as well.

If as many of you could reply again to me and let me know your situations that would be ideal, as I'm wanting to ensure that if there's an issue in this flow, that we know where and what is.
