Thoughts on the game (it's long)
Thoughts on the game (its longue)

After almost 200h, I really think this game needs some work. It’s not a bad game, but it could be way better.
I notice a lot of problems while I was farming for creating the spreadsheet that I posted on gamefaqs and here.

- I liked the story and the new characters.

- The maps feel different with unique biomes, but they could be bigger. They introduced the grappling hook, so we could had multiple layers on the maps, which could them seem bigger.

- We should have drops from normal monsters. It becomes a waste of time to fight normal monsters really quick, as only the hunts and guarded chests are worth to farm.

- Seeing the fast travel animation every time is a waste of time, just teleport us immediately as soon as we chose the fast travel point. Seeing it one time is enough.

- In some latter skits, after we get a lot of affinity with some characters, the characters will go explore some dangerous dungeons. Why can’t we have those dungeons to explore? They could work like the sacrament invasions in Hollow Realization. They could be like small raids, but with lower rank. It would be a good start to equip ourselves for the harder content.

- I really like that we don’t have weapon proficiency in this game, but they found replacements for the time we would invest in that, as there’s so much need to farm in the end game. For example, unlocking the ultimate skill for each weapon. Even if we only do the hunts that rewards us with 3 vessels for the weapon we want the skill, we need to beat that hunt 100 times, as we need 300 vessels to unlock the skill. To upgrade the divine beasts’ weapons, we need the fragments that we gain at the end of the raids and we need to beat 25 raids for each weapon which totals at 300 raids beaten to upgrade all weapons. This is a lot and the problem is that the reward at the end isn’t enough for the patience and dedication from the player.

- I like the Arts Commands. I like to be able to give direct orders to the AI in specific moments, but I miss the records from Lycoris. It would be perfect to have that system to configure the AI behaviour and the command arts for precise orders. The only problem with the records from Lycoris was that we couldn’t edit and create the record as we wanted. One problem with command arts is that there’s a 30 seconds cooldown for the AI to execute a specific command and if we order the AI just before the cooldown ends, at the 30 seconds mark they will do that command and not execute what we told them to do. Our orders should take priority in execution

- The default speed of combat is so slow, the combat only begins to be interesting when I’m at around +30% skill speed. This was already a negative point in Lycoris.

- The Raids on Lycoris were better in my opinion, and I’m not talking about the map on itself, but the fact that we could use the other characters that we don’t use in our team. For those that didn’t play Lycoris, the Raids worked the same way as they work in Last Recollection. There’s the exploration section and them we enter the Boss section. In Lycoris we would have our team of 4 and we would make three more teams of 4. For the exploration section each team would only have two characters with a total of 8, but for the boss fight there would be all 16. That was really cool because we could use a lot of characters that we don’t usually use in our teams.

- Another problem is the damage we can currently do, it’s to low. I think that they really made the game with the multiplayer in mind, but if you play alone, like me, it takes so much time to kill mobs, especially the hunts, divine beasts and raids. I have end game equipment now and I kill them quicker, but it still takes to much time.

- Speaking of damage, why can’t we upgrade weapons? That was a mechanic in Lycoris that would help increase our damage. Another way we had to increase our damage in Lycoris were the slots we had in armors where we had specific items with interesting effects to put on those slots, but they took that out too. The buffs in the game are in need of a serious buff.

- Another problem with our damage is that the Ai appears to have a cooldown to attack. They simply stop attacking for around 6 to 10 seconds. This was already a problem in Lycoris and they corrected that with a patch, but they did the same thing again.

- Still in within the damage problem, why are the wayfarers locked at rank 25? They could stay at that level until we beat the game, but they should be at the same level as Kirito after we beat the story. The interesting things is that they level up in our team but if we let them go, they reset to rank 25. And its stupid that the button to speak to them is square. How many times I want to attack a mob and a wayfarer is near my character and I begin talking to him when I want to attack.

- Aerial and down time after break its very inconsistent. Sometimes I can do a lot of sword skills and other times I can’t even do 2. I know that we don’t fully understand the mechanics behind those states, but still. There’s actually a problem with the aerial state. If we launch small enemies, they can go very high and most of our hits don’t hit the enemy. This happened in Lycoris too, but I think they patched that.
