How to counter????
I can't achieve a counter in the tutorial. I use black howling assault when the enemy readies the skill, but... nothing happens. I tried as soon as possible, and when the enemy actually launches the attack, but neither worked.

Yeah, that was the point in the demo where I started to skip the tutorial, since I didn't give a crap anymore.
Thanks for the counter... so, how about tell me the timing instead of being another useless tutorial with a million words but nothing helpful...

Yeah I gave up and skipped, I assume the thing's bugged.
SuperSteve232 Sep 26, 2023 @ 12:44pm
Did you try the counter when the ball was coming towards you? If you use Black Howling Assault before the enemy's attack goes out and tracks to you, it won't count, atleast from my experience
Yaya Sep 26, 2023 @ 12:54pm
I'm pretty sure I did, but if it worked for you or someone else I guess I just got the timing wrong.

You gotta use the skill through the incoming projectile.
Billy Blaze Sep 26, 2023 @ 1:39pm
There was a ball?
A projectile?
All that thing in the tutorial did was slashing at me...

Yeah, the mob tosses out a dark energy ball when you're a bit distanced away, then when you use the skill while the ball's going towards you, itll cause you to dash through it to the enemy and hit them

It literally says bullet attack, not sure why you thought that meant nothing
Zekkn Sep 26, 2023 @ 6:29pm
yeah the bullet counter funnily enough is designed to counter projectiles ( who would have guessed ) ... im surprised to see how many people are having trouble with the mechanics the game HONESTLY over explains. I would HIGHLY recommend reading skill tool tips and note that the ex version of the skill requires you to upgrade that skill with SKILL POINTS if you want its extra effect which for alot of skills is the AIR/BULLET/BREAK counter, so if you are also using skills thinking it comes with that effect by default then you would be mistaken.

Forgot to mention that the enemy attack will literally tell you what counter to use before it even starts readying the attack, they are also colour coded for people that forget to read.

i would recommend practising with the 1H sword as they get all 3 counters for real cheap and if you play as the tank you can always keep the aggro on them while having your 3 stage auto combo be the DEF down/ ATK down / SP regen to stay alive longer and deal more damage REAL easy.

do also remember that any skills you upgrade also apply to all OTHER party members so early on upgrading 1H sword is also a safe bet as there are 1H sword users in the TANK and BUFF sub class.

If you want a safe party to practise with have kirito Dual wield, Dorothy for dmg, and play as Leafa or eugeo as tank and have the 1H sword setup i mentioned and then Lisbeth as your buffer ( alice works aswell as you will be switching between leafa and the buffer character you pick to cast buffs manually and alice can make use of the same 1H load-out if you don't wanna learn another weapon and lose damage in the short term, plus it adds another set of FAST debuffs for auto combo ) and then you should never really have a problem, at least for anything in the demo even on hard mode

ALL RED chests reset every time you teleport so if you wanna farm for gear then that is an option as gear stats are randomised every time so this is an easy way to get stronger REAL easy early on.

if you are struggling with world bosses then note that at least in this demo ( i feel will possibly patched out in the full release sooner or later as its a busted exploit that i feel is not intentional ) every time you flee from the boss (the red barrier around the boss fight) you will auto rez any downed teammates and FULLY and i mean FULLY regen the allied attack bar so you can literally go in auto combo as leafa for debuffs, allied attack to guarantee down and special attack, walk pass the red line, rinse repeat until its dead, as the enemy HP doesn't CURRENTLY reset. I will say though on HARD mode which i have been playing to get the better quality drops ( yes we finally have a reason to play on hard mode from the start ) enemies are higher level and have ALOT of hp so this is something you do in the background while watching youtube or something as it can take upwards of 30 minutes for even the lowest level one, depending on how much attention you are paying to it while farming and that no hiccups happen while doing so. NOTE that the stats from weapon/equipment drops from boss enemies are also random as well.

DAMN just realised i wrote an essay... oh well i hope this helps some people anyway, if i notice anything else that seems useful or handy then i might update this or a new post, also feel free to add any other useful information you find yourself as i haven't run every setup/weapon/party combo yet so there is probably stuff i have missed

Well... there is a simple reason why it gets glossed over (at least by me).
When I play a demo, I don't put too much energy into it, just in case I wanna buy the game and have to play from start anyway.
And when the tutorial is text after text after text, I don't give a crap and the dev is lucky enough I don't shut the demo down because of this.

And this one thing... just this one tiny thing that's one of the biggest f-ups ever and I've only seen it in a poorly made indie game before:
When you have a tutorial section for an attack... don't make this damn attack have a cooldown.
Like yeah... sure... I wait till I get another shot at a worthless game mechanic.

And so far, there was not a single reason to be far away from the enemy to trigger the attack other than finishing a tutorial about a worthless mechanic.
Your char is just glued at the enemy while you mash one button till your thumb looks like a pencil.

It's a really crappy game again where you feel like you start in the middle of a game with all the things you have unlocked.
Plus these high numbers right from the get go.
"Disgaea 6" did something like this... and guess what got changed in "Disgaea 7" since it was a terrible idea?

i mean reading can be hard for some people if they have some issue that makes it that way but outside that it seems to be an issue you created for yourself by not reading or paying attention. Even the sword skill tooltips have an animation play that shows how to use it if for some reason you hadn't figured it out already.

If you go into something with the lazy low energy mindset i don't see how you were gonna get anything out of it anyway.

The game has problems like most games that are low budget do ( especially in regards to the SAO gamerverse games ) but your attention span or ability to comprehend it is not on the game to make up for.

Its the same as people who complain how a games story sucks or they think it wasn't done well only to find out they skip cut-scenes on the regular... like that is a self made problem that the devs aren't responsible for.

ALSO if you have fought the bosses in the world you would realise that they make use of these attacks that you NEVER use again, even more so on HARD mode. You complained there is no reason to stay at a distance from the enemy then literally talk about a mechanic ( the bullet attacks ) that are designed to make you do so.

TLDR if you are gonna complain about a game at least make it something the game did wrong not what YOU did wrong.

Just take the L and keep it moving, Bullet attack was the key word, you missed it being too cool and too impatient to read, no ones gonna lose sleep if you decide not to buy the game over this, but at least put some effort into the demo's extremely in depth tutorial

Did you SERIOUSLY type all of that? Just how mad are you?
Is bamco paying you at least? I hope they are, otherwise big yikes.

nah just some small things i noticed while playing that apparently flew over everyone's head. i have issues with the game as well but they don't stem from me not paying attention or having never played another grindy JRPG before. It has been a definite improvement over Lycoris in terms of combat so far but the demo isnt that long or hard to begin with so we will see once we get to proper endgame how things pan out.

Also why has being knowledgeable and having information to back up your claims recently been seen as a "yikes" or cringe. The ability/attention span of the average gamer in this day and age are so bottom of the barrel its disappointing and explains why games go out of there way to make things too streamlined or easy

So you are not getting paid. Got it.
Double yikes, you should reconsider your life choices.
