Demo gameplay Impressions
So the demo is out for japenese playstation users and I tried a bit of it. And I am baffled at how badly they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the gameplay. Its so automated the game looks to be a joke, and worst of all you can only turn one of the automated things off, auto sword skill combo. The rest is so ingrained into the combat that its impossible to turn the rest of it off.

Movement speed is super fast I imagine. Was a thing ever since the remake of Infinity Moment, Hollow Fragment.

Thank you for your ramble. Now you have the reason to not play the game if it bothers you that much. And it is perfectly okay too, you should play games you personally enjoy. So if this one is not to your liking, there are plenty more. You should spend your money on experiences you find enjoyable after all.

Why play something you know you aren't going to enjoy already? Be glad you could
experience the demo, would be a lot worse for you without it.

First of all, I had no idea the game would turn out like this. I was expecting it to be like HR which was good. So I was expecting the game to be good. Also the reason the game is so fast is because it wasn't optimized for 60fps.

Thanks for heads up, seeing AQURIA made the game makes me lost hope after the clownfest from Alicization Lycoris. It's sad that such good potential IP is handled by team like this.
Still hope DIMPS(fatal bullet) makes another SAO game one day.

Even the finished arts is auto
And still no aerial attack

What made you think this would be like HR when HR is in a VRMMO and this is a simulated reality? I mean, since this is continuing on from AL and it takes place in the same setting, why would it be like HR? that makes no sense, continuity wise

Yep all the combat decisions are a step backwards. I'm also upset about how they gutted the sacred arts, I cannot understand some of these decisions.

Sacred arts maybe cz the setting in dark territory
In the anime they also can't use it right?

But yeah

I expected it to be a stutterfest like most of other UE4 games,but to my surprise - game runs perfectly, its already a big plus.

They even gave character switching a cooldown. They actually double downed on the casualization of an already casual game.
Oh well, at least there's a new Arise DLC coming out next month.

sacred arts are all there, even the 3 stages to them are.. some just do different things now that were never really used in Lycoris, you equip them from the skill palette screen. You equip it the same way you equip Sword skill/battle skill/item, as its got its own tab

also the "auto" attacks arnt as strong as their SP consuming counterparts and if they are a skill that requires charging or has extra pathways involved you cant use them ( the charge or the extra branching attack ) in the 3 stage auto combo either so its about knowing which skills to put on your 3 stage basic attack combo and using the SP skills in between and to counter the AIR/BULLET/CHARGED attacks.

ive put about 10 hrs or so into the demo and even with the limited stuff we have access to in it, its already way better than what Lycoris was and other weapons are actually fairly viable now compared to Lycoris where you only ever needed the dual blades.

It could also just be cause im playing on hard where enemies are higher level, have WAY more HP, hit harder and use their special moves way more frequently.

the only switching that is on cool-down is the switch "attack" which doesnt do much anyway in the grand scheme of things as in the same amount of time you could out damage what the switch skill would do anyway, you can switch with your partner with L2 whenever you want and you can switch who your partner is on the fly so there really should be no issues on that department.

ALSO i wonder if you have played any of the previous SAO gamerverse games as they have always had switch as a skill on a cool-down so i'm actually confused where you got the idea that it was ever any different

Im looking forward to the Tales dlc aswell hopefully we finally get some harder fights out of this but we will see, gotta practise my combos again before that comes out, im no doubt rusty as its been years since i beat it on release week.

SAO LR feels a bit more like HR with lycoris elements, i cant say its good or bad but i will enjoy the time i play it and grind it hard. I cant wait for the official release
