Skill connect (ex)
Whats the difference if you dont use sword skills priorities? Is the SP discout lower?

Also the tutorial says theres a limit to how many skills you can connect but not the actual number, does anyone know (i run out of SP after 3)?

I will say I don't know the exact reason for the top question, but the bottom question there is a certain amount you can connect but it is possible to change it. Regularly, you can connect 3 additional skills, but with passives and such you can increase that number. For example currently I can connect up to 5 additional instead of just 3. SP right now is definitely an issue to hit that number, but probably later throughout the demo there will be different items and stuff to help that. I also know in my awakening state with my weapon (if you've beaten the demo, you know what I mean) it doesn't cost any SP to use abilities, so it is possible to hit my 5 additional skill connects.

hmm well the way skill connects work vs Exs, the rule is the skill connects must follow the priority rule. which is 1 - 2 - 3, every sword skill has one of these numbers on it. Skill Connect Ex works regardless of what priority is on sword skills. While grinding sword skill mastery ive discovered that i could indefinitely link Sword skills: Gengetsu(Level 3) and Zekku(Level 1) in that order. The first thing that happens here is an Ex, which to be fair would happen even if the numbers were in order. the 2nd thing to happen here is a Skill Connect, which didnt take place in the combo yet and also essentially causes an Ex reset. this will be useful when in awakening mainly. Because you can pull off much longer combos if you know to skill connect after your Ex limit has been reached. As for out of awakening mode, yes you will run out of SP quite fast so this isnt really relevant outside of that. Least not now, they might give us some busted stuff later on that we dont have right now. Oh and i think a combo reset occurs earlier here because i hadnt done that skill connect yet (Zekku to Gengetsu). Skill connect Ex wont let you use a skill to advance an Ex combo you just used or the sword skill you used before that. so what occurs here instead is a skill connect.

personally on the ui there seems to be space for another 3 sp bars so im hoping that maybe when we unlock our second super later on maybe we get a max sp upgrade as well

I've finished the demo but uninstalled after the end message, didnt test the awakening stuff. Was kind of frustrated that i mostly missed the counter timing on boss attacks.

Thanks for your replies!

As far as I've played so far, no. If it's like any of the other games however, there will usually be a high-end late game item (RNG drops) that will give passive buffs that increase the total amount of SP you get. Alicization Lycoris had a couple of these I obtained while grinding to max level.

As for the number of EX count you can have, as far as I know currently, aside from RNG drops on equipment that can boost this number, the natural limit is 6. 3 to start, 4th comes from the passive skill "Form: Holy Fist" arms combat style in the melee weapon tree. 5th comes from the combat skill "Master of Martial Arts" which is also located in the melee weapon tree. 6th comes from being a Dual-Sword user from the passive skill "Essence of the Blade".

As for reaching those limits, it's not that hard, though, I think I'd have trouble with getting the 6th or higher chain in the EX count without micromanaging my team. Just from having the -10% SP cost reduction and +25 SP regen combat skills active, this normally gives me enough SP to consistently use 6 attacks to max out my EX count of 5 in a battle. Though, these buffs only last 60s and can be a pain to reapply unless you use an alliance character which can buff the entire party with it when needed.

As an explanation, equipment in this game (and most of the prior games) have RNG stats, including passive buffs and/or active skills that the item comes with. You can in theory gain a weapon, armor, and both of your accessories that all grant the same buff, which stacks. Meaning, you could have all 4 pieces of equipment (the 2nd sword in Dual-swords does not grant you access to the passive skill of the weapon ever, so it's wasted on that item.) grant the "Essence of the Blade" passive skill and have an EX count of around 10, or also in theory have an SP bar of 700 (7 bars). Just requires a lot of grinding to find such an item though. Personally, I haven't seen these in this game yet, as I'm only R28 right now and only just cleared chapter 7. But I have seen similar items in the previous games.
